Hidden Gems: Meet Georgia Ingram of Cloistered Collection

Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgia Ingram.

Hi Georgia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
While living in Surrey England for five years, I became interested in Swedish and French antiques as a result of traveling and attending antique and decor fairs in Europe. In particular, I became inspired about how well Swedish Gustavian pieces can blend so easily with today’s contemporary spaces given their light finishes and neo classical lines. Upon returning from England, I began the process of importing Swedish antiques and opening up gallery and shoppe in Corona Del Mar.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a process of challenge and success. We entered a market in Orange County where a coastal design aesthetic is popular. Another challenge has been the popularity of reproductions due to their price point. However, slowly over three years we have developed a steady following and loyal clientele. We have enhanced our sales with online purchases as well as providing design consultations for our customers. Our inventory includes a steady flow of vintage oil paintings and pottery which is always in demand.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am the proprietor of a gallery shoppe where we have imported u owner and antiques home decor pieces and art from Europe.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Being able to provide inventory that is unique and not similar to other popular retailers is critical to our success.
