Today we’d like to introduce you to Feon Cooper.
Hi Feon, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Me and my partner Kareem Burton has l been fans of comic books and collectible toys since we was kids, always wanted to have our own shop as long as we can remember. We briefly had a shop in the city of Compton, and we felt the community was ready for us to try this again, so we did.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Other shopping centers not having faith in our vision was a challenge. Our mall closing because of COVID 19, Doing something that has never been done before by opening a pro Black pop culture collectible toy and comic book store was the ultimate challenge.
As you know, we’re big fans of Black Star Collectibles. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a pro black pop-culture collectible comic book and toy store, we specialize in Black Barbie dolls, Black action figures, Black funkos, and Black comic books. We celebrate Black pop culture, the purpose of our store is to give a representation of Black people and other people of color in toys, comic books, and apparel in the pop culture industry.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
