Hidden Gems: Meet Fadi Shakkour of PantryOn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fadi Shakkour.

Hi Fadi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am the founder and CEO of PantryOn. As a second-generation appliance entrepreneur, I have over 35 years of experience in the household appliances industry. Prior to PantryOn, I was the founder and chief designer of hardware manufacturing company MAC Faucets, which supplies bathroom hardware sets for domestic and international notable facilities, including the White House and the Office of the President of the United States.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a new company, we have had a few bumps along the way. Our goal is to make sure that our app encompasses all of our consumers’ needs and this has sometimes been a learning curve. The process for having our app incorporated with the Apple App Store and Google Play Store took a little longer than anticipated but it is now up and running on the Apple App Store and will shortly be available on Google Play Store.

As you know, we’re big fans of PantryOn. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
PantryOn’s mission is to ease people’s lives by using smart technology to monitor and manage their household inventory – from cleaning products to food items. We offer a line of smart Wi-Fi enabled shelves that can easily fit in a pantry or on a countertop. Our shelves are installed with up to 12 sensors that track the weight of the products resting on them and alert you when inventory is running low. Through our iPhone and Android compatible app, you are able to input each item and benefit from the preset information that comes with the several grocery store APIs we have obtained.

The product is extremely easy to use and can fit in most pantries and on most countertops. We are also currently developing a shelf for refrigerators.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Having worked in the appliance manufacturing industry for a while and seeing my father also work in this field, I get a lot of joy from developing products to make our daily lives that much easier. Working on PantryOn and seeing my idea become a reality has been a great deal of satisfaction. Also, working with my son, Michael on this project has been a very fulfilling experience. Continuing the family legacy by adding a third generation of entrepreneurs in the appliance manufacturing industry.
