Hidden Gems: Meet Devan Lesley of The Loonies or The Loonies Consulting (T.L.C)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devan Lesley.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Since a kid, I’ve always operated outside of the box & at an early age, it did get me into trouble. I found my way into sports at which I competed at a very high level, being fortunate to play Division 1 football, my outside-of-the-box thinking got me into trouble & at this point as well, I lost my scholarship & had to go to a junior college. During my two year period in Junior College, the harsher side of the business was made aware to me, it didn’t make sense to me that you work your butt off in hopes for someone else to tell you you were good enough, I made the decision that I had to be the captain of my fate and destiny. Soon after that decision, I was in a deep state of meditation and I saw my logos (the three heads) in my mind’s eye & I knew that was it, this is what I was supposed to be doing. I awoke from my meditation and started flipping through my school notebook, there they were each character I had drawn during a two years time period. After the school year, I dropped out of school and moved to Tacoma, WA to begin pursuing my dream. That was eight years ago. Haven’t looked back since.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The exact opposite actually, it seems like more downs than ups if I’m being honest. Building this business from zero came with many, many sacrifices between my family, friends & relationships, you name it at some point, I had to choose my dream or the latter. I had to be my own cheerleader for a while, I have been homeless & broke a few times chasing this dream this was the first business I had ever started & at this point, I was 19 years old, with no prior experience. Learning accounting, how to protect your intellectual properties, budgeting, branding you name it for the most part, I had no clue what I was actually getting myself into, I just knew I had this ever-evolving dream for this business & more importantly, I knew that I was not going to be denied.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Loonies or The Loonies Consulting (T.L.C.) is a vertically integrated consulting agency, our main objectives are building relational capital and uniting people through our products & services. We create “machines” that buy back your time so that you’re working ON your business instead of FOR your business.

These “machines” are based on your goals & aspirations, with two things in mind, increasing visibility in the marketplace & most importantly increasing your cash flow. These machines are built using services rendered.

There are two parts to The Loonies or T.L.C. Part 1 is merchandising selling utility products such as t-shirts, sweaters, hats/beanies, socks, etc. Part 2, Consulting, where I give my clients a piece of my mind (bringing them to “Flints World”) and help them scale/brand their business and creating autonomy.

Both parts of this business are paired with two things… 1; financial literacy, meaning becoming a part of The Loonies community through your purchases will give you access to learn from not only my successes and mistakes but also from a multitude of amazing people I’ve met through my network & 2; Conservation, I’m an avid outdoorsman and the great outdoors mean a great deal to me, so we aim to teach people the value of our beautiful earth and the animals that exist within it. I feel these two distinctions are what sets me apart in the marketplace, my products, goods & services have a real purpose and utility behind them. We create symbiotic relationships between anyone we work with & support.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
It would have to be the day I got my face pushed into the dirt, haha. I was bout 4 or 5 years old, once again thinking outside the box, there was this older gal about 16 at the park we were at, and for some reason, I thought it would be a good idea to jump on her bike rims as the bike lay flat on the ground. She however did not appreciate that, so what she did was hold my head into the sand chanting “eat the dirt”. My siblings and I laugh about that to this day, they say they didn’t jump in because I deserved it
