Hidden Gems: Meet Amy Thorson of Nativ Healing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Thorson.

Hi Amy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Redlands, CA, the jewel of the Inland Empire. It’s actually a very beautiful, historic town on the way to Palm Springs. My early years were spent in daycare and as a latchkey kid since my parents divorced when I was young, and my mom worked two jobs. Independence and strong work ethic were instilled in me from a very young age.

There were so many synchronicities that led me into a successful career in marketing and branding. It was wild. At the age of 20, I started a marketing internship at a global software company. By 21, I had graduated and became the youngest person ever in the company to manage strategic alliance relationships — IBM was my first account.

My entire 20s were spent climbing the corporate latter and doing all the things that I was conditioned to believe would bring me happiness. And while my ego was thriving, my heart was growing resentful. After 12 years, I just couldn’t do it anymore. I said adios to all aspects of my life ~ left my company, ended a serious relationship, sold my home and moved to Laguna Beach. The only place that brought me true joy and peace.

After moving to Laguna, I spent six years as the Director of Brand Strategy for a boutique branding agency. It didn’t take long for the resentment to start creeping back in.

My heart was screaming. The reality is that I was an extremely sensitive, empathic people pleaser in a world that was never satisfied. Nothing was ever good enough.

And so I hit burnout again. Every day felt like Groundhog Day!

But marketing and branding was all I knew… or so I thought.

As I started to slip into depression, I kept hearing about Bali and all her magic. I knew I desperately needed to disconnect to reconnect, and so I gave myself the greatest gift. Those two weeks in Bali brought me back to life. The Balinese are the most beautiful, humble souls with hearts full of pure love and gratitude. It was like nothing I had ever seen or experienced before and I knew I wanted to feel that way forever! Through another series of divine synchronicities and signs, I was guided to Reiki which opened up my energetic and intuitive gifts. So much of my life finally made sense. And once awakened, there was no going back. In October 2019, I took a running leap off the proverbial cliff and left the agency world to start my own business, Nativ Healing.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Besides walking away from a very financially stable 20 years career only a few months before a global pandemic, my biggest challenge was trusting myself and my gifts and also healing my own heart. In the beginning, I had to go through a full ego and identity death, peeling back 40 years of societal conditioning and labeling to rediscover and love the most authentic version of myself.

My own personal healing journey is what allows me to show up and hold space with so much empathy and compassion. Self-love was truly my greatest lesson and the inspiration for my personal + spiritual growth. Many of my clients are doing similar healing work, so it’s an honor to guide and support them on their journey.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As the founder of Nativ Healing, I’m a very heart-centered intuitive, reiki master teacher and sound healer based in beautiful Laguna Beach, CA. My own healing journey led me in divine timing to my soul calling which is to teach others how to live a more intentional, heart-centered life. Radical self-love and self-empowerment are guiding themes for all of my energetic and intuitive offerings.

We live in a world full of toxicity, stress, anxiety and fear. Most people don’t realize how much this affects us on an energetic level. This is why I use energy, sound and vibration to calm the nervous system and help bring balance, peace and harmony to all aspects of our physical, emotional and energetic bodies. Intuitively, I use ancient healing tools and modalities to return the body back to its natural state, so it can heal itself.

I’m very passionate about creating sacred space for healing and empowering others to find their own light within. My crystal alchemy singing bowls are the highest vibrational bowls and I intuitively play with the intention to open your heart and your energy to share and receive more unconditional love.

In 2021, I started teaching reiki because it had such a profound impact on my life. I truly believe that every person on the planet should be attuned to Reiki Level 1 ~ healing for self. The world would be a much more loving, compassionate and harmonious place.

My offerings include private 1:1 intuitive reiki and sound healing sessions, private group sound baths, new moon and full moon gatherings, reiki trainings, retreats + workshops throughout Southern California and beyond. I also offer virtual reiki sound baths and will be launching online reiki trainings later this year.

I’m proud to say that I love what I do! Nativ Healing is the most authentic expression of my heart and what I have to offer this abundant, beautiful world.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe in energy, intention, passion, and living in alignment with integrity. We all have the innate ability to shift our energy and take our power back. We also have soul contracts and lessons that we are always learning from. This is part of the human experience and the evolution of our souls growth and expansion.
