Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Canet.

Hi Sharon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
“You don’t always need a plan. Sometimes you just need to breathe, trust, let go and see what happens.” This quote by Mandy Hale resonated with me when I decided to resign from the multiple medical spa offices that I was working at and opened my own space this past March 2022. I have been an aesthetic nurse specialist (RN) for 15 years and it feels so amazing to finally own a business that I’m so passionate about. I felt burnt out years ago as an ER nurse, which led me into the cosmetic industry in 2007 and I’ve never looked back. The pandemic also brought on a huge paradigm shift in the way we see our careers. What’s really important? Quality of life and being close to family.

Opening my own space allows me to be myself and it does not feel like work at all! When I worked as an employee before, I felt undervalued and uninspired that I actually thought about leaving the aesthetic industry. Now, I’m having so much fun doing what I do without the limitations of being an employee following someone else’s rules. I have so much to learn as a new business owner and I’m hungry for it! I truly believe in helping people feel and look their best selves. I trust my instincts along with my extensive industry experience to guide my patients and be part of their aesthetic journey.

When I accepted this path, everything just fell into place. I feel really blessed to be in LA doing what I do while spending quality time with my family. It is a different grind and hustle when you work for yourself but it’s totally worth it!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I decided to open my own place, things just fell into place. I reached out to the right people at the right time and found this amazing location right away. It literally took 4 weeks to plan, order all the supplies, and open on time! That was the challenge itself and also learning things about the business as I went along.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an aesthetic nurse specialist with a private practice in downtown LA. Being in the industry these past 15 years allowed me to build relationships with long-term clients. Most of my business comes from word of mouth, which is rare nowadays since most rely on social media.

I offer cosmetic injectables such as wrinkle relaxers and fillers for face and non-surgical body augmentation. I’m known for natural but impactful results. I use different techniques and tools to give my patients the best and most durable results when it comes to aesthetic injectables. I continually expand and improve my techniques by being active in attending trainings and striving for safe and proven results. As a Galderma aesthetic trainer myself, I enjoy sharing my passion with other injectors in the field! I’m so proud to have partnered up with Aluma Medical due to their strong branding. They offer a business model that allows seasoned injectors like me to work for themselves.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I really take my time during consultations as this is an important part in creating a treatment plan for patients. I listen and try to understand why patients are in my office, what their aesthetic goals are and hold their hand throughout the way. We all have certain anxiety or nuisances about the way we look so having the ability to be empathetic with patients makes them more comfortable and at ease. For me, every injection has a purpose and I’m very mindful of each patient’s unique anatomy. Education and having open communication regarding expectations are key to having a successful practice.
