Exploring Life & Business with Robert & Tiffany Santana of Rawbert’s Açaí

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert & Tiffany Santana.

Robert & Tiffany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was working in Irvine when I had my first açaí bowl & it was love at first bite. I could never find a place that had everything I wanted with the attitude and personality behind it to keep me wanting to go back.

I was sitting on the idea of starting my own açaí business for a while and then I met my now wife & she pushed me and helped me start the business during the pandemic. We started hosting popups at our house for family & friends and they were introduced to small business pop-ups.

From there on out, we grew our network, met some amazing people & are now just working hard in hopes of opening our own store one day.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road because one of our biggest difficulties was always having to rent a Uhaul for events because our cars are small & can’t fit everything.

We also have a 9-month-old so juggling events and having a small baby has been rough as well. My wife actually did popups with me up until she was 8 months pregnant.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I started this business because I wanted to introduce a healthy alternative to people. We’ve encountered so many people who’ve never heard of açaí before & fell in love with it after having one of our bowls.

Not only do we offer açaí, but we also have pitaya & coconut. We currently have ube & mango on the roster as well. Our customers pick a base & then can pick unlimited toppings from our variety of items.

We pride ourselves on getting to know our customers and helping them pick something delicious, sweet & healthy!

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
We have met so many fellow entrepreneurs on this journey and a lot of them turned into family/friends. You have to treat people how you’d want to be treated & you will find your circle.

Step out of your comfort zone and hustle. Find events in different cities & truly get to know other businesses.
