Exploring Life & Business with Rachelle Dominguez of Radiant Love Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachelle Dominguez.

Hi Rachelle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I actually didn’t start in the event planning industry. I have a B.S. in Apparel Merchandising & Management from Cal Poly Pomona. I studied and worked hard to finish school in three years while working part-time at Nordstrom. It has always been in me to learn how to juggle my time and find my work/life balance. I started my career in the apparel industry working in design, merchandising and production planning; this was my world for over 13 years. I am a firm believer that all experiences are relevant and planning a fashion line launch takes as much, if not more, time and effort than planning a full wedding. All of it has the same structure, just different types of results in the end.

My love for creating anything and everything artsy and crafty turned into event planning as a weekend side hustle. I love to sew, bake, design and create handmade/personalized gifts. I would help plan and coordinate weddings for family and friends and was even asked to plan corporate holiday parties for the companies I worked for. I was so passionate in the event planning industry that I took classes at Cal Poly Pomona to become a Certified Wedding Consultant in 2016.

After years of the weekend side hustle, I started Radiant Love Events in December 2017. My husband J.C. was actually the one to push me to start my business. I was at home with my son Xander who was almost five months old and it was time for me to make a decision to return back to work. My husband knew that I was not ready to go back and supported my decision to stay home and venture into event planning. With the support of my family, I was referred to my first set of clients and officially started my business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not easy at all. When I decided to start my own business, I was not aware that being a small business owner requires you to wear multiple hats (way more hats than I ever expected). All of this has been quite the learning experience and, to be honest, I am still learning. During my first year as a wedding planner, I realized that I was so deep in doing the daily job that I needed more support in not only structuring my business. I started attending local networking events and signed up for the Planner Life Academy in 2018. I was able to meet so many like-minded women who are so supportive in this community. This is what I needed to push for more in myself and my business.

Being a full-time mommy and business owner is a struggle on its own. Balancing time has been the hardest but the truth is that I am able to do two things that I absolutely love. Watching my son grow into a strong and intelligent human being and being able to support and plan the most cherished day in a couple’s life has given me the drive and motivation to continue on this path.

Radiant Love Events is a full-service wedding and event planning company based in Diamond Bar, California. From strategically matching a creative team of vendors to creating design elements that curate all the details of the wedding day, Radiant Love Events is here to help every step of the way! We offer customized service packages in wedding management, partial planning and full-service design and wedding planning. We go wherever our client’s love stories take us.

Our services begin by building trust and developing a heartfelt connection with every one of our couples. We provide the peace of mind and confidence that each event will be executed to precision. We are here to support and guide our clients through every detail of wedding planning.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My biggest supporters are my husband and my son. I wouldn’t be here without them. They are the reason why this exists. I am thankful to all my family and friends who have referred my work from the beginning. Through this journey, I have been able to meet the sweetest clients and vendors that continue to inspire me to do better each day.
