Today we’d like to introduce you to Neema Bardi.

Hi Neema, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always loved Real Estate. When I was six I developed a lego addiction. I built the white house, the empire state building, and even the Taj Mahal. When I turned ten, I started begging my parents to take me to Open Houses on the weekends because I thought it was “fun.” When I turned 18, I started studying Real Estate Development at USC and by the time I was 22, I became one of the youngest Real Estate Brokers in California. After graduating college, I joined one of the most prestigious brokerage firms in LA because I thought that the brand name would help me get more deals.

When I first started, I did everything I could just to get that first deal. I made a pledge to myself that I couldn’t leave the office until I cold-called at least 100 people every single day. For 2 months, I showed up to my office at 8 am and didn’t leave until I finished cold calling 100 people by 8 pm. Now, remember, as a Real Estate Agent, you have no boss. No one is there to push you, the deals you close are all because of your own motivation and hard work. It took me hundreds of rejections, but then the business started pouring in. I got busier than I ever thought. It got to the point where other agents started coming into my cubicle in order to learn my tactics and mannerisms to close more deals for themselves. I came up with more and more new ways to sell Real Estate. I started selling homes through Facebook and Instagram ads, I hired Virtual Assistants to constantly follow up with my clients and built and used different scrapers to help me get more leads.

The longer I stayed at my brokerage firm, and the more deals I closed, I started to realize there were so many things missing. The office was a ghost town, they offered no tech tools, they gave me no leads, and most importantly – they were taking 30% of my income. For basically nothing in return. Once I realized my clients were using me, for me, and not for my brokerage, I understood I didn’t need to be taken advantage of anymore.

I started to talk to other agents and learned that they all felt the same pain that I was feeling. I had to create a solution that would work for the modern-day Real Estate Agent. And that’s when I came up with Atllas.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For Atllas, there have been plenty of challenges but the biggest one has definitely been breaking into an industry that’s hundreds of years old. It’s like trying to move a mountain. Before us is this behemoth of an industry, its roots have been firmly planted for centuries, and over that time, all of these systems have been put in place from the very beginning, from its inception, that have only evolved at the most leisure of pace.

So when a company like Atllas comes along, of course it’s going to be difficult in the beginning stages because we are saying we can move this mountain! You see the same struggle with other companies like Tesla, Uber, Microsoft, and other really notable/revolutionary tech giants today.

We’re starting to see the amazing impact Atllas is having on our customers, changing their lives. Buying a home is the largest transaction most people ever make in their lifetimes.
