Today we’d like to introduce you to Melody Pourmoradi.
Hi Melody, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When I was growing up, I can recall being as young as eight years of age and knowing that in some capacity, I wanted to help people evolve and thrive in some way. Guiding and supporting others was literally what gave me energy, even back then. While I took on many roles and jobs from my childhood until the point at which I first created my girl’s empowerment business, none of them fueled me on the level that I craved. Fast forward many years, I had my own aha moment. While on vacation in 2014. I was watching my daughters playing on the beach. They were so carefree…enjoying themselves. I had a few of my clients on my mind and challenges in my own life, and I thought. “What happens from this age where we don’t feel the same peace and ability to just be?” I immediately began brainstorming, talking to everyone I met on my trip, jotting down notes in my journal, and three weeks later, I held my very first GiRLiFE workshop in my community. The workshops focus on concepts like Gratitude, Self-Love and Nutrition with the goal of teaching girls they are brilliant beyond measure and are powerful creators of their own lives. Each girl receives” an imaginary tool belt to equip them with lifelong skills for resiliency and grace under fire. I soon went on to create a digital blueprint for GiRLiFE; certifying women to run their own income-generating workshops locally has made the empowerment series a reality for girls everywhere. There are currently 180 women across the globe holding workshops, and helping to change the world, one girl at a time – all while earning an income for the valuable work that they do. I was tired of watching women dim their lights for fear of what others would say. I wanted the next generation of women to think bigger, dream harder and bring to form everything that they wished and wanted for themselves. I knew that to make this a reality, we had to start with our girls. We had to shape their thinking from a young age — to know, trust and believe that they are powerful creators in their own lives. I am so grateful to have a career that brings me such joy every day.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Both. It’s been a smooth road, in that having a movement that is so deeply rooted in impact attracts a lot of people who want to get involved with and support the GiRLiFE mission and vision. This is something I am so grateful for because every time we reach a new height as a business, it carries with it a profound impact on the collective. Every woman who decides to go through the GiRLiFE Academy and become a facilitator has the potential to positively impact so many girls — the ripple effect is truly such a meaningful one. On the obstacle front, as with most businesses, mine has its own set of unique challenges. How can we make sure that our message doesn’t get diluted when so many women are sharing it? How can we make sure we preserve the integrity of our mission? How can we get our program into the hands of more women who can serve with an open heart? These are questions that I am always looking for fresh new perspectives on.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business has a mission of empowering women to empower girls in a variety of unique ways. We serve women who want to run a heart-centered business by offering them the opportunity to become GiRLiFE Facilitators. In this role, we teach them how to run empowerment workshops in their local communities and we also teach them how to earn abundantly for the valuable work that they are doing. They are trained to teach girls all about self-love, and about connecting with their superpowers, Essentially, they are learning how to introduce girls to emotional intelligence; a concept that will serve them in so many profound ways throughout their lives. Under the umbrella of GiRLiFE, we also have courses that support girl moms to lead their daughters with courage and confidence as well as courses that help women become the most authentic and abundant versions of themselves.
What really differentiates GiRLiFE is that while there are many non-profit girl’s empowerment endeavors that women can get involved in, GiRLiFE is a for-profit model that encourages women to turn their passion for this work into a full-time career. We take pride in giving them the tools and the training to make this a reality.
From a brand perspective, I’m so proud of all of the supporting content we’ve been able to create all with a single-pointed focus of uplifting and empowering girls and women, personally, spiritually and financially. I am the host of a podcast called “Empowering Her” and I’ve written two books; “XOXO, from a girl who gets it” and “Empowered Women Empower Girls”.
I am so proud that GiRLiFE has become a trusted catalyst in the girl’s empowerment movement. My heart-centered Business has been featured in Forbes, The Today Show, Huffington Post, Bella Magazine and others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I really don’t believe much in “luck” – I think that we are each extremely powerful creators in our own personal and professional lives. We all have the capacity to bring our ideas into form. People often say that I was lucky that my business took off in the way that it did. I always respond that it was my willingness to work for what I believed in and back it up with aligned action that created this ripple effect. It wasn’t enough for me to simply have the idea – I had to actually bring it into existence, and that’s exactly what I did.
