Exploring Life & Business with Heaven Luna of Luna Beauty and Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heaven Luna.

Hi Heaven, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Always being a beauty enthusiast, I decided to pursue a career as a makeup artist. I enrolled in the Makeup Artistry program at Lu Ross Academy and became certified in 2014. I fell in love with helping women feel beautiful and confident. Looking to offer my clients more, I also became certified as a spray tan artist later that summer. After working a couple of years in the industry part-time while keeping my waitressing job, I knew I wanted to step into a full-time career helping others look and feel their best. I enrolled at Kali Institute for Massage and Somatics Therapies and in September 2016, I was granted my massage therapist certification. Shortly after becoming certified, I started working for a chiropractor and quit my waitressing job, and in 2017 I began renting a room part-time working for myself. Wanting to be an expert in my field, I decided becoming a licensed esthetician would be the missing piece of the puzzle to tie my knowledge and services I could offer all together so in January 2018, I enrolled in school at Simi Institute and was licensed in September. By the end of 2019, my business was growing, and I really felt like I was picking up momentum, and then COVID hit. I shut down in March of 2020 and didn’t reopen my doors until April 2021. During that uncertain time, I ended my sublease and really reevaluated my business. I found an open office space and decided to take the leap on my own lease. After reopening in the new location last year, I can proudly say I’ve had my best year in business, and I am happier than I have ever been.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not being able to work for 13 months during COVID shutdowns was incredibly hard.
