Exploring Life & Business with Casandra Mandeville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Casandra Mandeville.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started acting back in 1987 with actual parts in films and shows. I have done stage plays with different schools of mine, I always freaked people out, this is because I was so convincing in all actions I do. My extreme best friend noticed me acting out lines walking home, she stopped me before we came friends, she was my acting coach–she was the legion diary Mary Pickford. When my family found out I was acting, they wanted to open a production company, one day everyone would know and fear, they started it to honor me. This is what was told to me at a family reunion, yes I was honored and still am. I had a lot of ups and downs in my acting career due to my last name or mainly due to people sleeping around to take my roles. Every director breach the contract to which was signed. With my last name, it has been so hard to find an agent to sign with. I have been looking since 1988, even more since 1995. Every time I speak to an agent, I got the door slammed in my face, hung up on and asked for my birth certificate to prove I am a Mandeville. I am the only real Mandeville in acting.

In the roles I got to keep, I have done everything under acting: background, walk on, group, group talking roles and my favorite is actual speaking roles. I am a true A-list actor. I love memorizing scripts and meeting everyone when filming. I always put on my best, go for it and always have fun. I am also a model, director, acting coach, teacher, writer of scripts-books and comic books. One of my favorite sayings is, “Act from the Heart, don’t be want people to want you to be, never forget why you wanted to start and don’t follow bad advice. My big one is, act for yourself and not the fans”. Also, This is what I teach everyone who learns from me, “Always Remember not Everyone can Hear you speaking in films or shows–watch silent movies and watch how they speak with their bodies, they use the entire body, that’s why I suggest to people watch Mary Pickfords films and see what I mean.

Every film I got to be in or show, I enjoyed very much, not all my shows was seen and sadly for some reason, some I was CGI out and replaced. Resent I was in three of my homegirls YouTube videos it’s under “Spice Divorce party planner “Who the is Star, I play Star and Want to Divorce my Werewolf ‘, I play Lithe-but the name shows as Dawn. I am showing these two.” Resent ones”.

I never let negativity get me down, I never give in or quit. I let karma hit ones who do wrong, I go in and show my true self. I am a little nervous, I had never been truly interviewed, this is a first for me, it’s an honor, thank you. Yes, I am still acting, do everything I had wrote earlier, auditing and spending plenty of time with my baby, she is 12.

I am working on getting a stage name or I can walk in and not be judged cause of my last name. I am not ashamed of my name, it should not be an issue, I want people to see how I act and not see my last name. Years ago, I convinced over 600 people that Kurt Cobain and I were a couple and people were happy, and I convinced a wonderful actress from Russia to come out and film out in California and I got to meet her came friends.

I love to have more acting roles, it helps me release stress and become my character tell the last shooting day. I am an LA-based actress, I live in Orange County, I don’t mind the drive to get to an audition or filming.

I know I go on, if I go off the subject, I do apologize. I will never give, I remain positive and set off for more roles. I am writing a book about my adventures, why roles were taken from me and how I was and still being treated cause of my name.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It is a bit of both, rocky cause of my last name and people sleeping around to take my roles. I have had people ask me to leave because I am a redhead-in the past, also they don’t want beauty in the inside only out, the moment some not all, see my last name they demand me to leave and make fun of me. People think cause of their color they can’t get or keep something. Try being in my shoes–have my last name and see my struggles. The roles I got to keep, I am thankful.

I never give up or in, I keep going.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am someone who meets up with people and teach them acting, the do’s and don’ts. I am a real firefighter, cop, director, teacher, model, writer or books-comics and scripts. I am a dancer, horseback rider, I do a lot of volunteering work, I love to help people, see their faces light up with joy-all the thanks I need. When I get a building and fix it all up, I will be sending a lot more cards out and advertise myself. Everyone I had couched-all won academy awards in best picture or most dramatic. I do have an Instagram account, I also have link, but If I am truly going to advertise myself, it will be in newspapers, YouTube, commercials, my Instagram account is under @Casandramandeville, I don’t have a picture up, the reason causes people screenshot my picture and open fake profiles and it’s a nightmare.

My price if I charge for teaching acting, it will be $35 a month for everyone of all ages.

I am known for my strong personality, my mom’s mood on all ages, loving heart, always speak my mind, when I say bad words, I apologize at times, never afraid of speaking the truth, etc. and my kindness to all animals.

I do cosplaying.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My mentor and was my very best friend, I miss her so. She took me under her wing and taught me more than the acting I already knew. 1984-1986, Mary Pickord Legiondainairy silent film actress, hopefully I spelled legion one right. She taught me more in how to speak with my body and go strong If you choose a mentor, go for the ones who show kindness both on film and off film. Never choose one who does wrong things. Remember your favorite actor is and follow them.

I had several people follow me and call me their best mentor ever, I was shocked when they say that, I said welcome with a smile.
