Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarika Connor.

Hi Sarika, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The Spicy Mamas are a family of first-generation Chinese-Cambodian entrepreneurial women. The garlic chili oil we cook started out as a family recipe loved and shared by friends and family. When the pandemic hit, many of the Spicy Mamas had to shut down our small businesses. We began to sell our chili oils as a means to help cope with the pandemic. The chili oil is made in small batches, carefully handmade with the highest quality ingredients in mind. As the pandemic stretched on, our business began to grow. Today with the pandemic improving, many members of The Spicy Mamas have been able to go back to work while working on The Spicy Mamas on the evening and weekends. We’re working hard because our goal is to share what our family and friends have enjoyed for so long with everyone. It’s a labor of love, and hearing the positive response from fans has been really motivating. As for the chili oil itself, we would describe the taste profile as the perfect balance between garlic, spice, and umami. We have three flavors of our garlic chili oil: Classic Spice, Killer Spice, and Vegan Spice, with Killer taking spice to a whole new level, as requested by our fans. Each are packaged in an 8oz bottle. The Spicy Mamas chili works well as a topping or as extra seasoning to your favorite dishes. Add our chili oil to any dish and your taste buds will explode. We recommend trying it on everything — your favorite noodles, tacos, stir-fry, dumplings, fried rice, pizza, pastas, soups, porridge, even ice cream!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
We knew we wanted to create something that would bring people together and bring joy and inspiration to people’s daily lives. We combined our love of food and family and packaged it into a product we could be proud of. That was the easy part. Anyone who understands what it’s like to be a part of a big family knows it can come with its own set of challenges. The Spicy Mamas’ name comes from the fact that we are a bunch of ‘spicy mamas’, each with her own set of opinions and ideas. Our biggest challenge was figuring out a system that works for everyone. The process was not easy, but it has made us better collaborators and strengthened our bond as a family. In addition, the response that we’ve received from our customers has made it all worthwhile.

We’ve been impressed with The Spicy Mamas Garlic Chili Oil, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The women of The Spicy Mamas are no strangers to hard work and the foodservice industry. We all grew up working in our family doughnut shops. Over the years, some of us have branched out into other small businesses such as nail salons, discount stores, and a self-employed acupuncturist. We understand the struggles and dedication it takes to run a small business.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
We have received such positive support from our local and online community and we owe it to them for getting us to where we are today. We want to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us. Thank you for sharing our beloved family recipe with your friends and family.
