Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Ledford.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I was a kid, my entire life revolved around sports. This is where my love of fitness began. As an adult, I maintained my active lifestyle but never thought about doing it as a profession until I started assistant teaching/coaching at the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy I was studying at. I enjoyed coaching so much that I thought I might like to pursue fitness as a full-time profession. As much as I loved coaching at the academy doing it full time seemed more like a dream than something that could actually become a reality. However, when my wife suddenly developed some health challenges and no doctor could figure out how to help, she and I decided to take matters into our own hands. We focused on her physical health and her nutrition and I became obsessed with the science of physical activity and its benefits to the human body.
To make a very long story short, we were able to correct her health issues through nutrition and physical fitness and this was the final piece of the puzzle for me. After seeing how much I was able to help my wife, I knew that I wanted to help others in the same way so I left my previous career behind and pursued that goal with complete dedication. Today I am Certified as a Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and I see clients in person several times per week. I also train clients digitally through various online platforms. In addition to working with clients one on one I also post free content to my YouTube channel called “LedFit.” Recently I reformatted my website https://www.bodybyledford.com to be more of a source of information so that people who are interested can find guidance on all things fitness and nutrition. Helping people reclaim their health is my number one passion and my goal is to help as many people as possible.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing is ever a smooth road. It’s the bumps that teach us. The most challenging thing I’ve dealt with by far is the Corona Virus. This closed all gyms in Los Angeles and made It extremely difficult to train clients one on one. Even with the challenges I face as a trainer, I wouldn’t change what I do for the world.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in preventative health care through physical fitness and nutrition. Working out can be an intimidating endeavor. People can be afraid of being judged for one reason or another. The thing that I am most proud of is my ability to help clients feel at ease and provide a space where they feel free of any anxiety they may have about their current fitness level so that they can focus on achieving the health goals we establish together. I train clients in person, online and through fitness guides. I also provide free fitness and nutrition content through my YouTube channel and blog.
