Today we’d like to introduce you to Anita Vita.
Hi Anita, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was a burned-out recovery room nurse for six years who worked at a hospital and felt depleted, tired and constantly stressed out. I didn’t even know what burnout was. I took on a lot of tension from the work I was doing, and it was subtle. Imagine most days on a 12-hour shift your central nervous system is always on. I ignored the signs of wear and tear that my body was going through and in so doing, led to even more health challenges. One of them being a chronic illness in my gut called IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) that eventually caught up to overtime. One day, a really challenging day at work triggered me to react irrationally. I believed I had no help; I was out of the safe nurse-to-patient ratio and was working without breaks. I reached my breaking point and was done putting up with how things were being run on the unit. Right then, I knew that I had to change my environment. That day, I turned in my resignation without knowing what my next steps would be. Looking back on that moment, I just wanted space to breathe again and fill up my cup. I felt overwhelmed, disconnected and just wanted to feel like myself again- vibrant and happy. At first, I thought jumping from one nursing clinic job to the next was the answer to the fulfillment I was looking for. Taking a hospital job or clinic job is just a different kind of hard. It wasn’t until another health challenge came up that required me to take a medical leave of absence and eventually listened to my body.
During this forced pause, I reflected on where I am being called next. Deep inside, I heard a soft voice to serve nurses- heal our healers. You know when you have greatness inside of you just waiting to come out but it’s stuck? That’s what I was feeling. I knew to look for guidance. I sought out a life coach for nurses, but they didn’t exist at the time. I was well networked with business and spiritual coaches, so I decided to invest in them as well as other programs along the way. In my quest to seek answers for my health and find balance in my life again, I tapped into my Spirituality through learning meditation and going on retreats. I learned how to better take care of myself. That’s when I realized that the inner work was what was missing while I was working as a nurse and knew I wanted to bring this wisdom and teaching to the nursing community. Nurses are at the forefront of healing; we must practice what we preach. We have been trained to take care of everyone else except no one has shown us how to do it for ourselves.
It is our duty and responsibility to serve from our highest good and advocate for our health and wellbeing. Wanting to make a change, I made it a point to be an advocate for self-care for nurses. My journey led me to become a certified master medical qigong practitioner and life coach today. Through transcendental meditation, I overcame IBS, insomnia, and anxiety without medications. Now I have even better control over my emotions, thought processes and behaviors. Self-care is unheard of and not taught in nursing school and certainly not at the workplace. I created the RISE method and wellness experiences to build community and teach nurses how to reclaim their intuitive strength and empowerment. My mission and vision are to bring Medical Qigong and life coaching strategies to nurses so that they continue to give from renewed strength and overflow.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely it is not easy! The path is simple, yet not easy. It’s probably one of the bumpiest, unpaved roads with many twists and turns that I have ever been on. I think that’s just a part of the journey when you venture into the unknown. Getting to know yourself and your life as your master class is the growth that you look for. And that can only come from the difficult struggles and the tension needed in your life for growth to happen. At every moment, you get to choose higher. One of the most difficult struggles was breaking through my own limiting beliefs of not being good enough. Believing in myself and staying the course despite self-sabotaging thoughts is challenging. My greatest challenge is me. Investing in myself used to be a struggle. It was difficult to ask for and receive help. Now I continuously invest in mentors, coaches and masterminds for my personal and business growth. Going at it together vs alone is so much more fun and supportive.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a former nurse of 14+ years, I have made it my life mission to become a life coach and healer to nurses, and anyone else who needs it, how to put themselves first! I am a certified Master Medical Qigong teacher and I specialize in Self-healing chronic gut pain through meditation. I am known for being an expert in meditation and with my experience as a registered nurse, life coach, and medical qigong teacher, I bridge the gap between both Eastern and Western modalities to curate a tailor-made healing experience for my clients and students. I am most proud of overcoming the chronic pains that held me back that I can now teach to others seeking this kind of support and guidance. Self-healing from IBS, insomnia and anxiety purely with meditation and no longer relying on medications (over the counter and prescribed) is a huge accomplishment and I celebrate this win immensely! There is no other Certified Medical Qigong Nurse Coach that offers a one-of-a-kind premium healing service as I do. Pure will and meditation to heal oneself without depending on external assistance is my specialty. My mission is to develop the most centered nurse leaders in healthcare so that they continue to give from renewed strength and overflow through premium coaching, Medical Qigong study, and bespoke luxury healing experiences. I am also one of the founding members of our Tai Chi and Medical Qigong school called The Way Of Chi: The Complete Reality School. Follow us on Instagram: @the_way_of_chi_llc.
What do you think about happiness?
I think that happiness is a natural state. A quality we are already born with and able to access from within. Witnessing my student’s and clients’ breakthroughs makes me happy. It makes me happy because it validates over and over again my purpose and passion to empower, impact and transform lives for the better which in turn becomes the ripple effect of healing for all mankind.
