Daily Inspiration: Meet Wildlord Domingue

Hi Wildlord, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, growing up as a young kid in the streets of Brooklyn, I’ve always had an interest in art. Around 4th grade, I was always drawing in class and often my classmates would want me to draw something for them. The funny thing is when we had art assignments, my classmates used to always come to me to draw them something to show the teacher. I was always known as the kid who was always drawing, and my classmates noticed that quickly. As I got older, art started to become part of who I am through drawing portraits of people and getting better at my craft. After passing 5th grade, I went to I.S.68 Bildersee Junior high school in which wasn’t too far from where I lived at the time.

After Graduating from Bildersee and Moving to Fort Greene Brooklyn, I started to develop my creativity while going to a local school for the Arts high school called Dr. Susan S Mckinney in Fort Greene. They gave me the option of choosing a field through the arts such as Theater, Vocal, Dance, and art. I got into art of course and high school is where I started to know who I am as an artist and unleashing my creativity after graduating high school, I self-taught myself to learn illustration on adobe photoshop while going to LaGuardia Community college as a New Media Technology major. I became quickly aware of the direction I wanted to go related to the media field. After graduating from LaGuardia, I began my journey as a graphic designer. I started to learn typography, Logo, and poster design in which were added to my arsenal as an artist. I’m currently at City College of New York as a design major. And I can honestly say that I found what I’m good at. And I strive to become the best designer in my field every day.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has not been bad; I landed a couple of positions in design work within certain local community businesses. I’ve also worked with several clients for commission. What I would say a struggle would be getting certain opportunities within big media companies and trying to get into the fields relating to brand and identity. I’ve developed connections within the fields that I want to work for and plan on getting into the positions by 2021. So it’s constantly a grind and I’m blessed.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Most of my work is mostly digital illustrations during the beginning of my graphic design career. My focus at the moment is mostly typography and brand and identity projects as well as logo design. I’m mostly known for being creative and having a creative mind and my work reflects that. I’m very passionate about my work in creating a sense of communication through my designs. I take pride in what I create as a designer and I create like it’s my last day on earth so I have no choice but to give my best. I must say that my friends think I’m very much a talented person. I love the arts so that means that I sing, write, do poetry at one point, I was an actor. But all this to say, I love what I do.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I’m a very self-driven person in which means that I go after what I want in life when it comes to being successful. I often look at design being a sport simply because I’m always in competition with myself to get better than my competitors and that’s what pushes me to become the best that I can be as a designer. My life is a story and I often like to inspire a generation through what I create. I love telling stories through my designs because it allows people to react, respond, and feel into being part of something. Overall I’m a hardworking person and I take pride in what I do. I’m very much a humble person and respectful but I’m very much aware of my skills and talent as an artist. I think overall, that’s what motivates me and my success because I just don’t quit. I must say that lately, I’m proud of my progress and excited in developing a couple of projects on the way.
