Daily Inspiration: Meet Theodore Taylor III

Today we’d like to introduce you to Theodore Taylor III.

Theodore, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am an aspiring actor from Compton California. Acting has always been something I’ve wanted to do as a kid but never got fully into it because I played multiple sports growing up. But ever since graduating from high school in 2020, it’s been something I’ve been giving my all too. I’m enrolled into college as a theatre major where I can simply improve as an actor. Then a few months after graduating high school I signed with a talent agency. Since then its been a nonstop grind.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
From an acting standpoint, there’s always been struggles. Every actor experiences failures from auditions. There are times where you go on big auditions and you know you did great but you don’t hear back or get the role because of things that are out of your control. Then on a personal note just upbringing. I’ve grown up in Compton and while the media perception of it is overblown, I grew up hearing drivebys, our house has been shot at before, I’ve lost friends and seen some throw their life away. Then during summer 2020 something traumatic happened. While riding my bike I got held at gunpoint and while I got myself out that situation its still something I think about everyday. In that moment I could’ve lost my life at 17 and since then I’ve been working nonstop. It’s kind of cliché but “life is truly short” so while I’m here let me put in the work to chase my dreams. My acting failures and upbringing have made me mentally stronger and give me more motivation to be successful and happy with acting.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an actor. 2021 was a good year. It took me awhile to book my first role. But since getting my first role in March, I’ve been a part of multiple short films, did a web series for a close friend, a commercial, extra work, and I have a lead role in a pilot coming up. I’ve done over 80 auditions this year and I know that I am improving as an actor. My work ethic is what sets me apart because this is what I love to do and I won’t let nothing prevent me from reaching my goals. That’s what I’m proud of and I know I’m gonna build off of this heading into 2022.
