Daily Inspiration: Meet Rosemarie & Candice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosemarie & Candice.

Hi Rosemarie & Candice, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Ironically, our soap businesses started during the pandemic but our interest started a couple of years before that. I (Rosemarie) used to experiment with soap making and was giving soaps as gifts. Most of the soaps that I made looked like actual food and everyone always told me to sell them.

With Candice’s convincing, Sudz Kitchen started during the pandemic, and we were selling soap to family and friends and later expanded to an entire retail business with a website.

We just recently celebrated our one year business anniversary and on top of that we also just got our products in a local retail store! We are so excited. This business really is a growing opportunity for us.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
We have encountered our fair share of obstacles including juggling being the creators, packagers, billers, customer service reps and social media managers all at the same time. If only we could figure out how to grow more hands to do everything! Starting during the pandemic was also a challenge because we could not meet people in person, a few of our events were postponed, and it was difficult to network properly.

From the outside looking in, businesses can seem like an easy route from A to B, but it is a continually challenging journey figuring out how to balance everything and market yourself and your products.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In short, we make soaps that resemble food and bath bombs that match this theme. We like to call ourselves creators because although our business is about soap-making, we are constantly thinking of ways to change up our product offerings and are always involved in creative outlets outside of the business.

We are most proud of the uniqueness of our soaps and the reactions people have when they see our products for the first time. It usually goes from confusion to shock to laughter. Our customers are really what keeps us motivated!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Candice likes to listen to podcasts while working. Her current favorite is BiG Intuition by Brittany Gash. Clubhouse rooms are also her favorite way of having motivational background noise. And I am more of a book reader – some of my favorites are Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav and any book by Brene Brown or Joann Chittister.
