Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Schaefer.
Hi Paul, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have been in the photography world since I was 16 years old! I have always had a true passion for taking pictures and creating immortal memories, it’s amazing. I have been running my own photo business for almost ten years now and it has been the most incredible journey! I have met the most amazing people along the way and been to some of the most stunning places, places I would have never seen had I not been a photographer!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a professional photographer is not a smooth road at all! On top of the loads of people that want to have you take photos for a simple “tag” you are self-employed! There are no guaranteed paychecks so you have to hustle! It’s always tough trying to be polite and kind as possible but wanting to be paid your worth.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I LOVE Photography! If I had to only pick one thing I specialize in that would have to be Weddings! I have done hundreds of weddings in my career and they are all so different and unique! I know weddings, I know how they run, I know the different types of ethnicities, I know the details, I KNOW WEDDINGS. I don’t just show up to a wedding and shoot I make sure to call my clients weeks before the wedding so that we can go over the wedding timeline, get names of family members so I KNOW who is showing up and who I need to photograph and this way everyone is on the same page. I then type it up and send it to my couple. Weddings are something I am very proud of because I do my absolute best to make sure that my clients get tons of amazing photos that are all perfectly exposed, the photos are returned to them in a timely manner and that my clients are HAPPY!
What matters most to you?
One of the things that matter most to me would have to be my quality. I spend the most money on my equipment to make sure I have the best on the market so that my client is in turn getting the best!
