Today we’d like to introduce you to LX Xander.
Hi LX, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a Billboard-charting producer, originally from a fairly small town in England. I spent many years cultivating my music skills, then started doing production full-time a few years back. I could go into a lot of detail about exactly how I’ve grown my brand to where it is now but honestly, people usually pay me for that kind of information… a big thing for me though is just relentless forward momentum and not being afraid to take risks. I always hear sob stories from people trying to get into music like “oh, I got scammed and it really set back my confidence” etc. and I’m just like bro I get scammed on shit like… a good few times a year, lol. It’s just part of being in a high-risk industry. Just gotta keep moving forward.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Well, I did music for years and years before making a penny from it. The music industry is high-investment, high-risk… but it’s supposed to be hard. If it wasn’t hard, there would be a billion successful musicians. Learning to step outside your own ego and do what needs to be done to find success rather than just doing whatever you feel like is key.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a music producer, beatmaker, songwriter, etc. Honestly, when I first got out to LA I really felt like I was going to be playing catch-up, I assumed there would be a lot of people out here operating at a really high level of creativity, music theory, business practice, etc. but frankly, I couldn’t have been more wrong LOL. LA is full of people with a ton of enthusiasm & often overconfidence and a lot of them don’t have the skillset to back it up. It actually frustrates me a little – and I’m not trying to sound super arrogant here, I’m just speaking on observation – that in almost every room I’m in out here, I’m able to work at the fastest pace, produce the best quality of work & demonstrate the deepest knowledge of my craft. I WANT to be around people I’m learning from, but it doesn’t happen very often. Perpetually dragging everybody else kicking & screaming to their own destinies, lol.
I also do artist & producer development – that is, I take musicians and help them to grow their brand into something that the industry will take seriously. I get artist deals, I get producers placements, etc.
What does success mean to you?
For me, it’s about being able to play a part in shaping the culture. I want to contribute to the fabric of the zeitgeist, you feel me?
