Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Ward.
Hi Liz, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I graduated from SVA and NYU with a bachelor’s and master’s in Photography. Started shooting mainly portraiture, lifestyle, and street photography. Fast forward several years and I now live in LA and was beginning to get asked if I do food photography and I hadn’t at the time but I knew that I could so, I said yes of course! From there, I slowly built my food photography portfolio and restaurants and brands reached out more and more. Never turn down an opportunity.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As with anything, it takes time to establish yourself. So I had to start small and slowly work my way up to shooting for bigger brands and restaurants. Definitely wasn’t easy by any means took a lot of effort on building my brand and showing places I can do this.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a food and lifestyle photographer and content creator for (mainly) vegan brands and restaurants around LA. I would say I’m known for getting really eye-catching shots of food that make you hungry. I’m most proud of being able to support small businesses especially during this particularly difficult time with the ongoing pandemic. What sets me apart from others is that I not only handle photography but I give them the whole package deal including social media management and overall content creation and help grow their brands.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Lightroom is a must for on the go editing and one I use daily.
