Daily Inspiration: Meet Liv Pearsall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liv Pearsall. Check out the story of Liv’s meteoric rise below.

Hi Liv, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey began with a predicament that the entire world faced together: boredom in quarantine. In April of 2020, I was living with my parents after being sent home from college & I started making silly TikTok videos just for me & my friends. One where I re-enacted a story from my childhood caught the For You Page & gained 5M views overnight! I figured if I wanted to use this opportunity, I had to use it NOW. So I started pumping out content every day & analyzing my data to see what was working and why (I now have my degree in Applied Math so I enjoy data). I gained around 300k followers in a few months & in July of 2020, I made my first episode of “Bible Stories with Liv”, where I would re-enact a Biblical tale with modern lingo & jokes. This vid got nearly 7M views & I pushed this series like crazy.

The “Bible Stories with Liv” series took me from 300k to 1.1Million followers in under 30 days.

I kept making videos, making videos, making videos – always pumping out different types of content & capitalizing on a successful niche until it dried out. I hit 2Mil followers in January of 2021 & am currently at 2.6Mil (probably 2.7M by the time this article is released 😉 ).

The only reason this creative outlet has been sustainable for me is because I genuinely LOVE making content & making people laugh – I wanna keep doing it for a long, long time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I never could have foreseen how difficult the hate I received was going to be. And mine’s not half as bad as some creators! But what really got to me was when commenters would blatantly attack my faith. Because I was so vocal about my Christian beliefs through my “Bible Stories with Liv” series, I received a lot of backlash, especially from Christians who didn’t agree with the way I was living my life. I remember saying, “I wish they would just insult my looks or my body, because then at least it would be something that didn’t matter!” Because my relationship with God is so important to me & pivotal to who I am, it made every little insult sting a little bit more. This is something I’ve had to learn to get over & if I’m honest, I still am. The hate has calmed down a bit as I’ve transitioned to less explicitly-Christian content (intentionally for self-preservation), but I’m still the same person I was a year ago, just with a bit of a thicker skin now 🙂 .

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a comedic TikTok creator with over 2.6million followers. While my content style has warped & changed over time, my ultimate goals stay the same. I just love making people laugh. Bringing people joy! The longer I live, the more I realize that everyone is essentially going through the same difficult circumstances, whether it’s loneliness, anxiety, depression, family or relationship struggles – you name it. My goal is to just bring a minute of laughter, a moment of solace, to a tired world. I know that may sound silly when you look at how “stupid” my videos are, but it’s true! This is how I love my neighbor: to help them feel accepted & wanted on my platform, in my space, just as they are, regardless of gender, race, sexuality, religion. So while my videos may be comedic sketches or silly songs or quirky lists, the theme remains the same: you are welcome here & I love you. I believe this is what sets me apart from others & it’s what I’m the most proud of! I believe God trusted me with this platform & that is why I want to use to spread joy & love.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The social media scape is constantly changing & adapting – that much is obvious. To see the exponential growth of Facebook to Instagram to TikTok in the last two decades, along with the recent propulsion of short-form video, it’s easy to say that social media will not be going anywhere any time soon. Now as to what medium it will take on, who knows? Maybe Live videos will become the primary content stream? Maybe it’ll go full-circle & move away from videos back to images? Maybe interactive videos, like 360°, will become more popular? Who knows? Definitely not me. But I hope to adapt with the times and continue my own journey wherever the platforms take me.
