Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Trejo.
Hi Laura, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
It all started when I was talking to my sister in law about her small business. She was the one who helped me and guided me through. I pitched my idea to her and she asked, “why don’t you do it?” Never in my life did I think I could ever run my own business, non the less selling lingerie. In my opinion, women should be able to feel confident, sexy and daring in lingerie that is why Vivacious Doll was created. I try to offer something for everyone. Some women want something cute and sassy others prefer something exotic and dominant.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all. I have a full-time job and I am a single mother so that alone takes up a lot of time and energy. Sometimes sales don’t make the quota and that can really be hard on a business because we put so much time and thought into this business and when we don’t hit that margin it can take a toll on us. Although, I am eternally grateful for the sales I do make and for my recurring customers.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work in the healthcare field as a nurse. I pushed myself through nursing school working only part-time less than 20 hours a week. Finishing school was the best feeling ever. Knowing that I did that is my greatest accomplishment.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice is to never give up. And when you feel like giving up, remember why you started.
