Daily Inspiration: Meet King Siyah

Today we’d like to introduce you to King Siyah.

Hi King, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born in Queens, NY. I always grew up wanting to do something with entertainment which caused me to create a party group called “booty bounce entertainment” which lead to the viral “BBE Challenge” in 2014. Soon in 2016, I decided to make actual music for fun.

I was diagnosed with heart failure in 2018 and last year 2019, I had to get an LVAD and defibrillator implanted in me. Luckily I survived after a month of being in a coma and three months of learning how to walk, talk, and eat again. Now I use music to uplift, entertain, and help myself stay positive.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wasn’t in the most supportive environment so I always felt like an outcast everywhere. That led to depression that I battled throughout the years. I also was diagnosed with heart failure and it got worse over time which made my depression even worse. It’s still a struggle to live with all my medical issues but I still manage to survive.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a rapper but I would consider myself an entrepreneur first. Before music I was throwing parties, selling nutcrackers, clothes, anything to keep money in my pockets. I’m most proud of being able to go viral with then “BBE Challenge” that really motivated me more to go with whatever idea I have in my mind. What sets me apart from others is authenticity. I’m not trying to be someone I’m not, I’m not trying to sell a lifestyle I’m not around or do myself. I am me and I feel myself is the greatest gift I can give to the industry.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is probably going to my dad’s house. I always loved being around him and just learning about life as he always had a lesson for me.
