Daily Inspiration: Meet Keren Botaro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keren Botaro.

Hi Keren, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m currently a LA-based Singer/Songwriter. I was born and raised in Israel, toured all over Europe and lived in NYC for many years. I traveled extensively all over the world and soaked up a lot of different styles of music and cultures that I feel became a part of the canvas of my creativity.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I believe the main part of an artist’s struggle is an internal one, at least it was/is for me. It’s learning to accept that creating is a process we don’t always have control over. It’s learning to give birth to a song and then release it to the world and hope that it finds a home in someone else’s heart. It’s about walking an uncharted road sometimes without a clear destination – so no, the road hasn’t been a smooth one, but it is a rewarding one and really for me – the only way to be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I consider myself a confessional songwriter. I draw from my own experiences and combine those stories with notes to create sort of a “snapshot” – for me the process is cathartic and has some healing and soothing benefits. sometimes I feel the songs are not really my own, they just come through like thoughts as I “Catch” them.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe courage and determination coupled in with intuition and faith is very important for success. And when I say success I only mean however one defines “success” for themselves – for me success is about feeling fulfilled and not having any part of me block the flow of life – which I feel is the source of creativity.
