Daily Inspiration: Meet Joshua Boone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Boone.

Hi Joshua, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I started doing photography professionally after I enrolled in college. My best friend Zach Chavis was the photo editor for Old Dominion University newspaper and encouraged me to pick up a camera. My first event I photographed was a college soccer game, and I immediately fell in love with the camera. The way it felt in my hand, hearing the shutter go off, and reviewing the final product. All of it grabbed my interest, and during that time, it honestly was more of a release therapy for me. I loved the idea of being able to capture people and freeze that moment in time. While photographing sports I met a few wedding photographers on the sideline, and they encouraged me to enter that industry. I had the same feeling at weddings that I had at sporting events, and I knew it was a place I needed to be. From weddings, I just grew into photographing other areas of interest like commercial, corporate, fashion, concerts, and products.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t want to contradict myself in my statements, but nothing is smooth about the road to entrepreneurship. In retrospect, I feel as if I’ve personally had a smoother road than most starting in my industry all thanks to God. I wasn’t handed a silver spoon or anything, but I’ve been around the world, photographed some of my favorite people and places, and done all of this in under a 10-year time frame. I also enjoyed learning so much along the way that a lot of the “struggle” points didn’t feel like it. I often laugh remembering how much I sacrificed for photography sometimes. Choosing buying gear over food was a real decision I had to make a few times. Even working with some disheartening people along the way, not understanding why they wouldn’t simply help.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in weddings, event photography, and portraiture. Throughout the week, I’m connecting with local and nationally recognized brands creating content for their platforms, and on the weekends, I’m usually photographing a wedding. I’m most proud to say I’ve been to Switzerland and Jamaica from photography, I never even dreamed of going to those places, so to be there from the gift still blows my mind. My spirit, personality, and work ethic sets me apart from others. The older I get in business the more I see people want you not just because of what you do but how you do it and how you make them feel throughout the entire process.

What’s next?
I’ll be launching another brand soon, and I look forward to connecting with more youth and creators, inspiring a generation of thinkers and leaders. Showing them on social platforms like YouTube how possible it is to make it.
