Daily Inspiration: Meet Jon Simon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jon Simon.

Hi Jon, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After college, I debated moving out to Los Angeles to challenge myself or stay in Minnesota and be a sportscaster. I made a list of the pros & cons. I counted them up and it was ten for Los Angeles and 10 for Minnesota. That very night I went out dancing with a group of friends. A fun song came on and only I and a girlfriend of a friend stayed at the table. I told her of my decision before me and she said, without hesitation, Los Angeles. I still don’t know her name. I moved to Los Angeles and wrote my first script and it was Love at First Write. I went on to work corporate jobs but was never satisfied. So I quit my well-paying job and made writing my life. My most joyous days are when I’m writing. I started making comic books, apps and have developed an arsenal of scripts that are now ready for their close-up. Mr. DeMille.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been very rocky at times. The struggles are with people keeping their word. You wouldn’t believe the kind of people who made me promises and didn’t keep their word. But hey, it’s God’s timetable and not mine.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am known for various genres or as I like to call Jonres. I specialize in The Path a character takes and people of different backgrounds working together for justice. I’m most proud of works that somehow convey the kingdom of God through faith, hope, and love…with love being the greatest. What sets me apart is that every day people inspire me and I believe that there is heroic virtue in all of us. I am very excited for Episode #4 of a web series that’s ready to drop with Uber director Neil D’Monte. I am wearing many hats of writing, acting and producing in this irreverent comedy called Front Men. Meanwhile, I am writing my first novel that blends action and science fiction in unsuspecting ways.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I was once told you have to write every day. I scoffed at first because I didn’t understand. It takes years of seasoning to become better at it. And when you learn to love something, well, then it’s not work. Just write.
