Daily Inspiration: Meet JLeel

Today we’d like to introduce you to JLeel.

Hi JLeel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my music career as a background dancer for a gospel group called “God’s Image”. Years later, I started my own solo career as a recording artist, I was 14 at that time. By 15, I had a record deal offer But, the deal didn’t go through and life hit me with a series of life lessons.

Now that I’m older and much wiser, I’m back. I’m better and way more prepared. This time I’m following God’s plan and listening to what he wants me to do. So far it’s been a great journey!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road.

I’ve had to break myself down and rebuild myself multiple times. I’ve had to learn the business and not just be an artist. It took a lot just to get to this point, and I know it will be more challenging as I continue to grow.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Singer, Songwriter, and a Dancer. I can do Pop, Hip-Hop, Soulful music, and even a ballet if I feel like it. My specialty is R&B, I love R&B that’s what I got started on.

I feel like what separates me from others is I’m still adding meaning and feeling to my music. It’s music you will be able to listen to years and years down the line. I give that old school new school sound and it works!

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to trust in God, be patient with my process, and put in the work.
