Daily Inspiration: Meet Jimmy Jam

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jimmy Jam.

Hi Jimmy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Our brand started with hustle and hard work. Ultimately I was doing my own thing tryin to make it as a professional fighter. I traveled to different countries and states competing for many years. When my career was over, I stayed in the business teaching Muay Thai, Boxing and Jiu-Jitsu all the while my brothers were slowly getting our foot established in the sale and production of legal marijuana. Once city ordinances were established and the threat of being arrested was out the window, I transitioned to being one of our lead cultivators while bringing along with me the connections I made in the professional sports world. Now the Originals is one of the biggest brands in the industry supported by some of the biggest athletes in the world, one being Mike Tyson who we grow for. We also cultivate other well-known brands such as 22 red (Shavo Odajians brand from System of a Down) Marathon OG (Nipsey Hussel) Napalm (Xzibit). I still train people from time to time but everything is dedicated to our craft as growers and responsible, respectful businessmen.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Obviously, when we started the biggest struggles were the negative stereotypes surrounding cannabis. Plus while being in a state that is legal but federally illegal, we dealt with our fair share of raids, arrests and closures. Lesser people would have shut down for good but we knew we were doing nothing wrong and stayed the course and it has paid off. So much so cities welcome us with open arms now and want us to generate money for them.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a cultivator which means I am someone who produces the cannabis we sell and white label for others. While there are many roles in this industry my specialty is cultivating. I am also known for training people as I am a lifelong martial artist with high-level credentials. I am most proud of the fact that I grew up in the 90s in the height of gang activity in East LA and I didn’t end up dead or in prison and I’m doing a service that helps people emotionally physically and mentally. What sets me and The Originals apart from others is our consistency to deliver quality product day in and day out and the character or our family and workers. We’ve never taken investor dollars and we’ve always stayed humble and true to ourselves.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
People can support by stopping in buying products, repping merch posting about us on social media. There are different ways to work with us whether it be getting an actual job or doing some kind of collab. But we won’t collaborate with just anyone. They have to share our values and our vision and not many do.
