Daily Inspiration: Meet James Daft

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Daft.

Hi James, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After releasing tracks on SoundCloud for years, recording and mixing myself, I came to LA from Rhode Island five years ago to do music. After getting connected, I released my album U & The Moon. One of the tracks got featured on a TV show called Good Girls. We’re not done yet. New music is coming soon.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I had to deal with the fruitcakes out here in LA. Shit’s crazy man. Staying lowkey doing me. The whole team is up next though…PU

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love to create music that makes people think. Maybe it’s the sound, maybe the style-or lyrics. Whatever it is, I want to make people wonder. I’m not trying to blow up. I’m just trying to create my music and hope it makes people think.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson is don’t give up. Stop looking for the “big break.” That shit doesn’t happen overnight… Or maybe it will. I don’t know. Don’t give up.
