Daily Inspiration: Meet Estee Stanley and Leah Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Estee Stanley and Leah Smith.

Estee and Leah began making banana bread during the first month of the Covid lockdown last March. They were literally going bananas. Estees design business was coming to a close but Covid completed her design retirement. Leah stopped wardrobe styling and they had all the time in the world to perfect their recipe… they added a little twist. Chocolate chips! All their friends went bananas when they tried it!. Baby2Baby, a charity that Estee has been involved with for years, needed to raise money, so the banana bread was now FOR SALE. Pink and white striped boxes were bought, a logo was designed for the sticker, and BOOM Gone Bananas Bread was born.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We were not quite prepared to start a baking business during a pandemic, so that was our greatest challenge. The orders started growing and we were baking out of Estee’s house with one oven… the struggle was real. We are currently looking for space to house our first brick and mortar.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in banana bread! We offer five different banana breads and little individual bites we call Bon Bonanas. What sets us apart from others is our breads come in a heart-shaped cake form and are ridiculously amazing! We are most proud of the money we have raised for our partner charities including: Cedar Sinai, Baby2Baby, This Is About Humanity and Color of Change.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Be ready to give away a lot of cakes and prepare to gain some extra weight! When you start a baking business, there are a lot of taste tests in order to perfect the breads. We are constantly trying out new ideas. We still aren’t sick of our banana breads which is a great sign…we still eat it on the daily.
