Daily Inspiration: Meet Ebiye Udo-Udoma

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebiye Udo-Udoma. He and his team shared their story with us below:

Ebiye Jeremy Udo-Udoma, also known as @HandballNinja, is a former professional freestyler turned multi-sport USA national team athlete and content creator.

“He went on to debut with the Senior Men’s National Team at the age of 20 and has since gone on to represent USA Team Handball as a player across 14 countries as of May 2022, with Egypt set to be country #15 and Greece set to be country #16 in June 2022 as Ebiye scored the game-winning point in the North-American & Caribbean Handball Confederation Championship this past April to qualify Team USA for the upcoming world championships in Crete, Greece after exhibition friendlies with the Egyptian national team in Cairo”.

In his entire international athletic career between handball and rugby he had played in 18 countries to date, but specifically with USA Team Handball it’s 14, and soon to be 16, countries by the end of this month.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not smooth as I haven’t won every tournament I’ve competed in. I gained and lost starting spots, and we’ve had some embarrassing eliminations in continental and world tournaments, honestly typical trials and tribulations similar to what any elite athlete goes through.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
@HandballNinja as a brand encompasses not only my international athletic career but the multifaceted approach I have to connecting with and enriching lives all across the globe.

What’s next?
I am captaining USA Team Handball at a World Championship in Greece in June and at The World Games in Birmingham, Alabama in July. And then on the club level I have signed to compete with Polish club Autoinwest SAS Gdańsk starting in August.
