Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel and Shelby Robinson.
Hi Daniel and Shelby, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We first met in film school at Biola University. We quickly bonded over our passion for storytelling outside of Hollywood. We began dating and working together on short films, commercials, weddings, and other projects, quickly realizing how well we work together. Eventually, Daniel popped the question in 2018 and Viby Creative was born!
Now we work with amazing couples capturing their love story, traveling for destination weddings, and creating content for a variety of brands and small businesses.
We love Jesus and believe God has given each individual a unique story worth sharing. We are so fortunate to be able to work with the most amazing couples, doing what we love together.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think we can all agree that 2020 wasn’t the smoothest of roads for entrepreneurs. This really pivoted our business from solely focusing on weddings to opening up our work outside of the event space to work within the marketing and branding side of content creation. It was something we have been wanting to do for quite a while but never had the time to dedicate our focus to. Looking back, the quarantine was a blessing in disguise!
We took that time to focus in to what types of businesses and industries we would love to work with and got to work on developing a process that would best solve their problems and bring value to what they do. We ended up taking inspiration from our process with working with our couples since each couple has its own story in the same way that each business has a unique product or service to offer.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We specialize in creating a cohesive photo + video for weddings and creative brands. We are unique in the fact that it is usually just us two on set and in the editing process, we are able to keep a lot of the work in-house and love to have a genuine relationship with each of our clients. We’ve worked with some amazing couples and on the brand side many startups from local small businesses to creating content for Queer Eye’s Bobby Berk. We are excited to watch our business grow and see where it takes us!
How do you define success?
For us, success is being able to have control over who we work for and what we focus our time on. Being able to set our own schedule and take random days off are obviously nice, but that’s not it for us. We strive to be the best we can be at our craft and want to work with people who value us as much as we value their story. Relationships are everything for us, and we are firm believers that relationships are the foundation of being a successful and effective business. No one will want to work with you if you can’t relate to them. We recognize the weight that comes with being hired to capture the most important day of someone’s life or a product launch that someone has worked on in their garage for years. To us that is an honor and a privilege, and being able to effectively tell that story is the ultimate measure of success to us.
