Daily Inspiration: Meet Cindy Negrete

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Negrete.

Hi Cindy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved photography, when I was 16 I started taking pictures of food and nature. Out of nowhere, I grew a love for fashion and makeup. I was quite shy to take selfies but eventually decided to give it a shot. Social media has been like an outlet for me, I can express myself and be as creative as possible. Last year my hard work paid off and I started receiving PR from many brands. This was quite exciting because it was crazy that these brands even noticed me. I always wonder what would’ve happened if I had continued with taking pictures of foods, haha. But I’m glad I got over my shyness. At the moment, I’m working on gathering an audience on TikTok.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been smooth. Sometimes I get creator’s block just like anyone would. It can get very frustrating sometimes. But when that happens, I like to take a step back and remember why I do this: TO HAVE FUN! It’s important to take a step back and just breathe. I also struggle with depression and anxiety which can keep me from making content sometimes. But I always find inspiration in makeup. This has truly been a big outlet for me, trying out new looks or simply a new pair of lashes can make such a difference.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for my unique style and makeup! Outside of social media, I work with kids. Back home in the Bay Area, I worked for an amazing organization called The YMCA. Children are amazing! They are literally the future and I love that they have big dreams. It inspires you, it shows you that the possibilities are endless. We had so many dreams as children and as we grew up sometimes those dreams fell apart. Being a camp leader has showed me that it’s important to never stop dreaming! Anything is possible. What sets me apart from others is that I’m always hopeful and I’m not really scared to stand out. Sometimes my style can be a bit weird but that makes me happy, haha. It’s cool to be different.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I’ve learned that not everyone is going to like you or support you which is completely fine. What’s important is that you stay true to yourself and do what makes you happy.
