Daily Inspiration: Meet Candice Mancilla

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candice Mancilla.

Hi Candice, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my business during the pandemic after my wedding had to be moved from the venue to the backyard of our home. I started buying Rustic and Shabby items to go with theme of the wedding and now offer more items to rent! As well as picnic set ups for any occasion! I honestly have loved celebrations since I was a child! My mom would decorate birthdays with so much detail that after every event, I would tell her we should start a “party business” lol And as I grew up, when I started making my own money, I loved celebrating family and friends with style and now here I am trying to bring my creativity to clients events and celebrations.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I feel that at first, I was a little hesitant and was stuck with my follower count on social media/ wasn’t really getting any bookings. I really didn’t know how to reach people or promote my business, but I slowly started reaching out to other vendors for advice, starting watching tutorials and reading articles on how to get out there, and thanks to my supportive family, it’s been a pretty smooth road.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am known for my Rustic Shabby rentals. I specialize in chic picnic setups. I am most proud of myself for stepping up & not allowing the fear of failure of getting in my way of my dreams/goal. For getting up to do what I love to do! Which is to create things (being crafty) bringing other’s vision to life. My attention to detail and reliability are what set me apart from others.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Yes for a mentor! I would say reach out to different people, always ask questions not everyone will be willing to share tips or ideas to help you build your business, but keep on asking there will be people that will say yes to helping you. For me being honest and open about my needs & concerns has worked well for me. I have been so blessed to have come across women who have shared pricing, material tips, & strategies when it comes to buying/creating new setups for the events I am coordinating. It has honestly been awesome to slowly start new partnerships/ friendships with these beautiful women I’ve come across.
