Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameren Farr.
Hi Cameren, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It started about eight years ago that I decided that I wanted to become a dj being inspired by a few other djs. I have always had a love for music and was around it practically my entire childhood into adulthood. I started out deejaying in Atlanta clubs, private events/weddings and corporate functions. Early in my career, I was advised to start producing music by another dj/producer and he provided me with a few tools and resources to get me started. During this time, I was also working in corporate finance so I would usually go to work during the day and deejay at night; and of course primarily on the weekends. I moved to Long Beach, CA in May of 2020 to pursue music further and just get a new scenery. Being that I was born in Fulda, Germany, traveling has always been a part of my life. Since we were in a pandemic during the time that I moved to California, I started to focus on music production and creating remixes to continue to master my craft.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I don’t think anything worthwhile has a smooth road. Some of the challenges have been trying to balance some areas out in my life. I know that I can be a bit of a “workaholic”. Other challenges have been just the way the music industry is structured and the lack of support and representation for people who look like me. It being a male-dominant industry, you have learn how to navigate through that with confidence in who you are and how much work you have already put in.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work is helping to create beautiful moments and feelings for people of any country and background through music. I specialize in all types of music. From House, R&B, Neo Soul, Pop, Hip-Hop, to Afrobeats and Reggaeton, I love playing and creating those types of feelings. Because I travel around the world, I am exposed to many different types of music so I try to blend all of those sounds together to create my own music. I am known to be a musical nerd that enjoys finance and technology. Most people know me to be a deejay spinning at places and events in Atlanta or at weddings in California. As I have transitioned into music production, most know me for the music I either remix or create. I am most proud that I have stood beside some of the most musical talented people on earth and I am able to create memories and good feelings for people. I am also proud of the progress that I have made for the time that I decided that I wanted to make a career out of music. A lot sets me out from others. My music reflects my journey and my experiences throughout these journeys. No one can see the things that I see nor hear the things that I hear, the way I hear them and that’s where my music birthed.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was waking up on Saturday mornings and having to clean the house with my siblings and we would listen to all kinds of music to keep us motivated to clean. I was the deejay for that day. Also, because my family and I traveled a lot by vehicle, I discovered a lot of the music that my parents loved during that time and naturally, I developed to love that music as well.
