Daily Inspiration: Meet Caitlin “Sunny” Sumner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlin “Sunny” Sumner.

Hi Caitlin “Sunny”, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
To be brief, I really started out trying to make a difference in my community and grew to wanting to create a safe place for women in many small communities all over the US that get overlooked. I feel like my purpose is creating a movement for women and young adults that helps everyone understand that they have purpose and meaning. Right now, I’m doing a campaign for body positivity no matter what that may look like for individuals. I model full time, but my branding is a women’s empowerment company that mainly focuses on domestic violence circumstances but open to all to feel connected if that makes sense. Like no matter who or what you are, we all matter and we can all make our lives worthy if we believe so.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. I’ve had many challenges along the way and I think anything worth having takes time. There is also many lessons in that which turn out to be a blessing if we choose to see it in that light. Perspective is everything. I’d like to think everything works together for our greater good.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I model, but typically not just any kind of modeling. I like creative shoots artistic shoots and I stand behind shooting something for other small businesses/creatives/and including everyone. Everybody deserves to be somebody and I love to include that in all I do. I tied that into my women’s empowerment company because no matter what life has gave me, I’ve always been resilient and made a way. So now my life is making a way for others and really just living, just being. I make vegan lipgloss, soaps and incense to but that’s for my main goal of opening up a storefront to employ people who have a hard time with childcare or felons and whatever is restricting them from making it to the next level. The goal is to make my shop a place of employment and a donation-based place where people can order for free if they’re in need. It’s a massive project but my everyday long-term goal. I’m most known as “Sunny” I try to literally light everyone’s day up, whether it be with light or tough love. I’m a difference maker and I set myself apart because I have learned so much in being both calm and present. Gratitude is everything. I want everyone to feel like they’re somebody and help them see the urgency of everyday life.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I have learned how many people don’t really know who they are, how many times we all feel so lost, hopeless, disconnected. I’ve learned that we are taught so many things that we have to unlearn and more than anything, I’ve learned that healing is the only way both with mind and body and more importantly within. So many of us suffer and don’t know how to move past it. The true importance of life to be is to “just be”. In all things we do, we must flow, we must give (in all forms) and mostly, we must love. Love our day to day, love who we are, love our lives, love what’s already ours. So much could change if we just be the good. Be the hands and feet and love out loud.
