Daily Inspiration: Meet Ariel Tinsey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariel Tinsey.

Hi Ariel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My love for the fashion industry began as a young teen. I would sit in my room for hours scouring through magazines and creating/designing my own interpretation from the styles I would see. I had no idea I could make a career out of doing something that I was so passionate about.

I got my start at FIDM (The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, Los Angeles) and studied Visual Communications. While studying at FIDM, I assisted many senior fashion stylists in the industry before I built my own clientele in the fashion world.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has been anything but smooth. It was a journey to build a good rapport with reputable fashion designers and gain their trust so that I could pull from their PR showrooms for my clients. It also took a few years before I built my own consistent clientele.

When I first began styling, there were many slow periods in between bookings. I would fill my schedule with other jobs that I was skilled at. Such as Public Relations and event planning. Until one day, I decided to give fashion styling my 100% focus. Once I became tunnel vision my career skyrocketed from there.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a celebrity fashion stylist. I specialize in styling for red carpet, music videos, television and concert performances, commercial, and film.

I’d say today I am most proud of some of my recent accomplishments such as styling Moneybagg Yo for his 2021 BET Awards performance and also styling Machine Gun Kelly for “My Ex’s Bestfriend” which is nominated for a MTV VMA this year!

My warm personality, creativity, and tenacity set me apart from others. I don’t take no for an answer and able to work under extreme timelines.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck. I’ve manifested my entire life through visualization and always choosing the path of least resistance.

I can proudly and happily say I co-created the life I want and there’s so much more to come!
