Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelina Indira Watkins.
Hi Angelina Indira, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story begins as a young motivated 17 years old trying to find her way in the world. Self-care has always been important to me. I’ve done numerous forms of self-expression – but the three that stuck out to me was always around art, technology, and beauty. I enjoy giving people the experiences that surround luxury, art and encouraging people to think differently. I began the Indira. Journey by giving my neighbors these hair moisturizers that I started to make in my kitchen in 2010, and as time progress my formulas started to get better. In my professional life, I’ve become a super badass! I started to flourish in my technology field by doing and obtaining things that the normal person would think to do. I’ve grown the nerve to break all forms of glass ceilings. I became the woman I’ve always dreamt of, and the thing that stuck with me on that journey was always Indira.
I would always wearing the moisturizer I created for myself while I took on the world – I would always come home and light the candle I created the night before to ease my stress away. Indira. Is a beauty brand that instills confidence and encourages individuals to shift the paradigm on how we see beauty. It’s not only about the exterior of self. It’s able being able to Glo from the inside and out while taking on the world and telling yourself YES, I can do this. As I began to grow on this journey – I was able to meet the love of life and now COO of Indira, Rohan Andrew Persaud. Rohan is exactly what Indira. Represents. He is a man of drive and always seeing the bigger picture without limitations. In his everyday life, he dedicated in attacking the next goal so we can be exactly where we intend on being. Together we’ve enhanced this business and we are still deploying more everyday.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In any business, struggles are inevitable. It’s how you push through that makes it worthwhile. A few struggles I’ve encountered on this journey mostly surround the idea of not everyday is going to be “perfect”. There are days where I don’t meet sales quota, and there are days where I don’t get a lot of engagement on social media. As long as I stay focus and consistent, I could very well meet those goals the very next day. Being consistent has gotten me very far with Indira. EST 2010. In any endeavor you meet, remember to always be consistent.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known for being an artist, women in technology advocate, and being the Founder of Indira. EST 2010. When I am not running Indira. EST 2010, I am working as Platform Product Manager. I work with leadership and consumers to define a product’s direction in a company. My journey in the tech field is what I am most proud of. I am very vocal on empowering woman to join the technology field because there isn’t a lot of us. My public speaking has gotten me to speak at Google and with the YearUp non-profit organization. I believe the technology field can be more effective by diversifying its workforce. When I’m not working as the Platform Product Manager, I am an all around artist. I paint, I write poetry, I create content. I do it all. Lol.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising about Indira. Is that our scents in our Body Butters and Complete Care Balm are imported from India. Also, Indira is inspiring by my Grandmother who gave me the middle name Indira; which in Hindi means Beauty. Indira, EST 2010 is a black-desi owned business.
