Daily Inspiration: Meet Amanda Burg

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Burg.

Hi Amanda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began my professional career as a journalist for an online news start-up outside of Philadelphia. I quickly rose through the ranks from copywriter to lead editor in just a few short years. Part of my lead editor role involved managing their social media accounts and creating graphics to promote conversation on Facebook and Twitter and I quickly realized that I enjoyed writing news and feature pieces just as much as I liked creating graphics. I started spending my free time taking free graphic design courses online and training myself to use Adobe Illustrator, and in the middle of the night, opened an Etsy shop selling logo designs. I made my first sale just three days after launching and have since transitioned from branding and logo design to website design and copywriting for small businesses and entrepreneurs. Since 2016, I’ve had the pleasure of serving more than a hundred business owners with clarified messaging and gorgeous but strategic website design.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I started my business pregnant with my son and have quickly grown it from a side-hustle to a six-figure business now with two young children at home. I’ve battled common entrepreneur issues from comparing myself to others to scaling and growing a team.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
There’s so many web designers out there available to work with entrepreneurs and small businesses, but I take great pride in also having a background and expertise in copywriting. Being able to design beautiful websites that also strategically work to convey a message, connect with an ideal client, and guide them towards taking action is our superpower. With all of our custom web design clients, we also write the copy for their websites – it’s our way of guaranteeing a high-converting website.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I personally don’t believe in luck. I believe in working hard and smart. If you’re willing to work harder than most, you’ll be given opportunities most aren’t.
