Today we’d like to introduce you to Ally Ferguson.
Hi Ally, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I really was just a product of my exposure. I grew up in Southern California having two older brothers and hippie spiritual entrepreneur parents. I was allowed an open mind to explore in our home. Southern California embraced all things I love including skate, surf, grunge, meditation and Art culture which was spilling over the top with energy, inspiration and firsts of many kinds. It was incredible to be a part of such movements that continue to propel my community and career to this day. I went to a Stussy sample sale when I was 9 and it confirmed what I wanted to do as a career for my life. I had the be a designer and own my company! So I worked a range of jobs where I learned a ton about the business working my way from the very bottom into every aspect of ideation, creation and methodology. I met a music manager along the way who found my expertise an asset to his artists and I started a ghost design production company working with the minds of Tyler the Creator, YG, Kim K, Bored Teenager etc. It was wild to work with such talents. In that process I found myself Seeking out my foundational spiritual teachings through that process to ground me in the chaos. I deeply desired to create something that blended my expertise with my interests and through my practice & travels I lovingly created Seeker.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been so many wins in my path because of everyone I’ve had a chance to learn from BUT it hasn’t been smooth. Betting on yourself and staying in the game is never easy. Your mind can be a tricky landscape and decide it wants to change course when it sees a challenge it might not be able to overcome. The reality is that in business and doing anything you love that you might fail. BUT what I’ve learned is I’d rather bet on myself than someone else. Your biggest fears will likely become your reality and it is your duty to tune into the experience so you can learn what you need to in the process to continue your vision.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I create locally made, conscious, organic, non binary, hemp clothing that has no branding but it can offer community through its values and aesthetic.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Being kind and making things the right way is what matters most to me. Everything we create is made in good faith with all of our partners in the process. For Seeker to be successful it has to be holistically successful for all parties in its manifestation.
