Today we’d like to introduce you to Vember Conner.
Hi Vember, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a recovering SF – NYC techie, I decided to take my present and future into my own hands, and move to sunny LA mid-pandemic! I had begun working in real estate a year prior, using my long-standing corporate habits to pivot into working full-time in real estate. Uncovering creative ways to promote generational wealth was really the catalyst and then it became so much more. Growing up, I didn’t understand wealth – how anyone can create it – I only saw others had it and we did not. This led to doing all “the right things” and landing some wonderful jobs throughout a solid career in tech sales. But I was following rules to build a life I thought I was supposed to want and not one I really believed in – so without looking back I’m now a full-time agent with ACME Real Estate; helping my clients leave the rental market behind or level-up on their next house purchase. Helping clients build equity and find out how much more the word Home can stand for and all that it can provide throughout a lifetime has become my personal mission.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Leaving the SF – NYC tech sales world (and paycheck) to do a job so many do already is a risky enterprise. Everyone knows an agent out there! I had to be very clear about what I offered and consciously choose my second act because there is no room for failure. I make sure I am current on the market, the inventory, the new loans that are available when the market shifts, how best to present a winning offer, and what the final sales prices are for comparable properties and then I work it for my clients! Working to ensure my clients are taken care of aligns with what I love much more than providing software to Walmart! The real estate market is so stimulating and working with personal finance beats a procurement team any day! Realizing the outcome of this choice is uncertain is the most daunting challenge, but believing strongly in my purpose has been the force propelling me forward.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in demystifying residential real estate in the greater Los Angeles area and providing creative solutions to help people enter and grow into personal wealth; listing homes and working with buyers to find primary residences and investment properties.
It takes courage and a deep connection to who you are and what lights you up to be wildly successful once you decide to work for yourself – in any industry. I create agency for myself by providing agency to others through home ownership – that is powerful! Building and sustaining generational wealth through real estate is such a gift that people can give to themselves and their families. Not everyone knows they can do it, and it removes so many barriers to being free later in life.
While my personality is laid back (I’m told I have a calming presence so I often am starting to believe it), I am methodical, hyper-organized and tech-driven behind the scenes. Because any of my repeatable processes are dialed-in and infrastructure is in place, I can focus on my clients, any nuance of the deal, exceptional marketing and the strategy to win for them – real estate in LA is fierce and there is no better feeling than closing escrow! Actually loving this industry, my City and finally creating a space to enjoy my personal life, I am present for my clients in a way that is next-level.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
There is so much to love in LA – having lived in San Francisco and New York City – I can say LA offers the best aspects of what defines a vibrant city life – serendipitous connections, a breadth of culture, diversity and debate, wild night-life juxtaposed with healthy lifestyle options, the freshest foods and an excellent food scene (on any budget!), access to nature and what brings me strength on my worst days: amazing weather. Every town across LA has something to offer and there are hidden gems to delight the most worldly and savvy city dweller. I feel lucky to call LA home and to help others find their home here.
That said, LA has a long road toward post-pandemic recovery to heal certain communities in the city. Volunteering to feed the homeless, staying active with local government, and investing in up-and-coming neighborhoods enables me to feel like I am doing my part, but there is so much more we can collectively achieve. It can be heartbreaking but if any city out there has the capability to make a great comeback, it is LA.
