Conversations with the Inspiring Jusst Janet

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jusst Janet.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my blog out of nowhere. It was an idea that lingered in my head for a while. One night, my boyfriend, Aaron was setting up his website and it somehow motivated me to create my own website and start off my blog! Finding my domain name was the toughest thing to figure out because I knew it had to be something that needed to stick with me. My Instagram name is @jusst_janet and I figured why not make it my website domain as well! I already had an idea that I wanted it to be a lifestyle blog so that wasn’t hard at all. Getting started was easy because I had so many ideas, I already wanted to share. I am happy that almost a year later I’ve kept up with it!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have such a passion for photography. The hardest part about having a blog is that I am not the one behind the camera all the time. I have a vision of how I want the photos to come out and when it is someone else taking them they do tend to come out different. So, I’ve learned to be patient and understanding although it can be very difficult. Time management has also been a struggle. Between work and life, in general, planning out time to shoot, edit, write and review and more editing can be hard. My advice for anyone starting a blog would be to be thankful and patient to anyone who is willing to help you! Also, looking at your blog as a second job can force you to plan out better which is helpful. I wanted to be consistent from the very beginning and I’ve learned to plan things out a week or so in advance.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into story. Tell us more about the business.
My blog is everything lifestyle. Anything from fashion, beauty, travel, home, etc. I love that I am not forced to be focused on a single subject! I’m proud that it’s something that I enjoy. Not only that but I am able to incorporate my photography and that makes me extremely happy! If I’m not the one taking the photos I usually direct them which is nice to have some control in that aspect as well! What sets me apart from others is that I write topics that connect to a broad audience and others that are personal to me.

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
Being patient is key! With yourself and with others that you work with. It can be frustrating at times but being patient is so helpful! If you want to be consistent treat it as a job. It’s easy to give up, but if you push yourself you will get further than you’ll ever imagine. Also, don’t be afraid to share your work with others! Be proud of what you create. It’s easy to get discouraged but we should all be rooting for each other!
