Conversations with Sepideh Eivazi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sepideh Eivazi.

Hi Sepideh, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My full name is Sepideh, which in English translates to Dawn. This is why I named my company “Dawn of the Earth” which also ties back to where I originally came from. Born and raised in Iran, I was blessed by exposure to special herbs and teas from a very young age. My grandmother taught me the benefits of the herbs and how it can heal the body and strengthen the immune system. I was always fascinated by the magic of the herbs and spices she used in her food. When I moved to America at the age of 20, I was in awe at how western society had failed to appreciate the power of the herbs. In spite of this, I continued to educate myself on varies spices and teas, incorporating them to my daily routines. Additionally, throughout my international travels, I collected different herbs and teas from different parts of the world. This allowed me to curate my own blends. When the pandemic began like so many others, I struggled to accept the new reality of the world I was living in.

My childhood love for tea not only allowed me to cope but provided me an avenue to brighten lives of others with the smallest of joy by sharing my tea.

By Starting “Dawn of the Earth” I hoped to provide others with a way to stay present and reflect while the tea leaves slowly unfurl in hot water. That is where the tea leaves soften and unfold the mystery of color, flavor, and beauty.

Beyond sharing my passion for tea, I want to spread my love of and support for farmers all over the world. To stand in solidarity with them and to support my local community, I plant a tree. As the tea come from the earth, I believe in having a purpose-driven company to support the planet by using the recycled and sustainable packaging.

It is not only the tea. It is the labor of priceless love which grows in our hearts over and over again!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The hours, the work, and the amount of pressure to exceed the customer’s expectations wear on even the most passionate entrepreneurs. Searching for the proper products and being able to have the items to be shipped in a timely manner during global pandemic has been challenging. Lack in resources and finding the ethical companies who align with my mission required mass amount of time and energy to invest on.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work is about creating high-quality tea for people who share their love for tea like I do. I enjoy the process of curating the blends when my products are finalized. I feel proud to support farmers globally and find the unique herbs from different regions of the world. And also providing sustainable jars, packaging, and of course the tea itself.

The real joy begins when someone opens the tea for the first time. It is truly an experience everything from how they have to prepare the tea, brew the tea, and the special strainer that comes with it, all create a unique experiences for my tea lovers. Every person who has received my tea has expressed how much they enjoyed the experience as much as the flavor itself. Their feedback and excitement provide me inspiration to do what I do.

What sets me apart is the consultation via phone to understand the needs of each individual. The blends are uniquely made for each person and I combine the herbs and tea based on what I learn from them. I intuitively create the blends and send it to them as a surprise. This is where the customers trust me without knowing the flavor, they allow me to customize for them based on the individual’s consultation.

I had the opportunity to work with health and wellness clubs in LA to introduce my tea and the benefits of that for the body. I enjoy conducting tea ceremonies which I introduce the herbs and give the tea lovers the opportunity to taste different blends. It’s fascinating to see how each herb or blend speaks differently with each individual. This is the beauty of being a tea curator to custom the blends uniquely for every pallet.

The reason I have this perspective comes from not only being a transplant from Iran but working several years in hospitality, specifically working in world-class resorts and performing with VIP guests from all over the world and all walks of life.

What does success mean to you?
Success is not measured by the number of the tea that I sell. Rather, success is defined by knowing that every individual who received my blend enjoyed the experience and felt touched in some ways. I celebrate when my tea lovers share how much the tea nourished their body and soothed their souls and that’s a true success. To be able to connect with people in a deeper level during our conversation and make them feel seen and heard. To educate the tea lovers to show up for themselves and value their own well-being. To remind them that making tea can be a moment where they can pause and reflect. The success happens when they feel the love behind the art of blending.
