Conversations with Micheal Carraway

Today we’d like to introduce you to Micheal Carraway.

Hi Micheal, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Longview, Texas. As a little kid, I would always run around with a big camera recording everything from my little perspective, I never knew how much I was into Photography and Videography at that point in time. Growing up, I would watch YouTube a lot, so much that I actually looked up to so many creators I wanted to become one. As a sophomore in high school, I would always go out with friends and drive hrs out of town just to take photos for fun. I was the quiet kid that sat in the back of the class, but when it came to being in front or behind a camera, I became a super energetic person with a passion. That whole time I would’ve never thought of me pursuing Photography professionally never crossed my mind until I graduated and decided to take a big leap and move to California at the age of 18.

Once I moved to California, I saved up enough money to finally buy my first camera a (Canon T7i) I instantly fell in love with it. I began to teach myself everything I could about Photography. Once I learned all the basics, I began upgrading my gear to something more Professional. I started using my car as practice for my photography as well as doing YouTube since I was a big car person. I began doing car Photography of my friend’s cars since that was the only thing I had a passion about in the beginning; YouTube played a big part in my video work so I began Vlogging and started to do more and more Photography and videography. Once I got pretty comfortable with car Photography, I started to experiment with doing portraits, I knew immediately after I did my first practice shoot this is what I wanted to do full time. Doing portraits, as well as car Photography has taught me so much, I’m pursuing my dreams till this day, doing what I love to do, hoping one day I can turn this passion into my full-time job.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For the most part, it’s been a smooth road with learning photography, but from a business, standpoint learning about how many other photographers are out there doing the same thing as you can be a big challenge in standing out in the crowd and creating your art is key.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a portrait & car photographer. I put my all into everything I do and learning as much as I can, while still taking in and learning at the same time. I’m known for the quality of my work and how I treat my clients. I’m most proud of everything I’ve accomplished so far as a photographer. What sets me apart from others is my dedication to never giving up.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is the ability to wake up in the morning and realize I have this great skill, talent, and knowledge that I’ve taught myself. I feel that’s so important to me and keeps me on my toes to always learn, grow, and learn again.
