Conversations with Melissa Peppe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Peppe.

Hi Melissa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Well, where do I start? Hm! When I was a teenager, my first love/high school sweetheart died in front of me. He had a pacemaker and his heart stopped one day. This significantly affected my mental health, but is the reason I am who I am today. I got mixed up with the wrong crowd and addicted to hard drugs for years. Meth and Heroin… I was using with my boyfriend at the time (I like to call him the sperm donor to my children, since he doesn’t deserve the term dad). He physically and mentally abused me for years. So not only did I overcome being addicted to drugs, I am a domestic violence survivor too! I used to be ashamed of my past, but I realized that I can inspire others and remind them that there is hope on the other side! I became pregnant with my son and I had him 04/2012.

Fast forward to 06/08/2013 – my clean date! I have been off of drugs since that day and I couldn’t be more grateful! Both my parents made it possible, and I’m forever thankful for them! I found out soon after, that I was pregnant with my daughter. The “father” wouldn’t get off drugs and I couldn’t tolerate being abused any longer! I kicked him out and he never laid a hand on me again! I gave birth to my daughter 05/2014.

My younger sister was diagnosed with terminal cancer and passed away in 07/2015 at only 13 years old. Losing people you love is never easy, but to now lose my only sister, my only sibling was heartbreaking and while we had a good relationship, I will regret wasting most of her childhood addicted to drugs.

Now, I was a single mother of two children in diapers and I was only 23 years old (basically a child myself). I accepted a job at Target Mobile (MarketSource) selling telecommunication services as a part-time team member. I realized I loved talking to people and assisting them purchase assets that would benefit their life! I was quickly promoted to a team lead, then team captain and finally became a district manager, managing 70-100 employees! Ironically my now HUSBAND was promoted the same day as me and we were partnered together for training and ended up falling in love! We were both top-performing district managers, top 10 in the company! He also has a daughter, so my now stepdaughter is the same age as my daughter. Together we have three kids, ages 10, 8 & 8. I loved my job there, and I gained so many skills from my seven years there, not to mention gaining my husband too! I knew I ready to move on! My husband accepted another job and encouraged me to take time and invest in something I was passionate about! I have always loved real estate and decided to pursue that.

Fast forward to today – I got my real estate license, and joined a luxury brokerage “Agents of LA” who people might know from the VH1 show “Love & Listings”!

I’m still getting established but the clients are pouring in and I’m about to close my first deal! I have great mentors and have been implementing the skills from my previous role and I know this is what I’m supposed to be doing and where I’m supposed to be at in life! Call it manifesting, or whatever you’d like to, but by this time next year I’m going to be one of the top realtors at my brokerage! Life is so fascinating – to imagine I wouldn’t be in this exact moment with my beautiful family and achieving this career goal if I hadn’t gone through the good, bad, ugly and tragic moments that led me here. It reminds me that everything indeed happens for a reason.

I am a woman of many hats – Wife, Mother, Survivor, and now a Luxury Real Estate Agent. Whatever my next hat is, I’ll never forget the path that led me here and what I went through to become the woman I am today.

Thanks for letting me share my story.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Currently, I am working with both buyers and sellers. Specializing in the Santa Clarita and Antelope Valley Area. I have residential and vacant land clients right now, but I want to learn commercial among others! I have great mentors who specialize in all types of real estate and can serve almost anyone, with any real estate transaction in California!

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I was reminded that life is precious!! We don’t know how many days we have left! This I’m familiar with! The Covid crisis allowed me to pursue a different career path and now I spend more time with my family!
