Conversations with Keira Leake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keira Leake.

Hi Keira, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m 29 years old I live in Los Angeles California. I am a Dancer/Nail tech who loves and enjoys what I do. I started dancing in high school and stopped for a minute until I graduated and started back when I got to college I went to El Camino College in Torrance for dance in 2013 and just continue to dance I’m trained in modern hip-hop jazz etc. In about 2016 is when I started to do nails I started off doing my own nails and after perfecting my craft I decided to go to school to get certified to become a nail technician in order to work in a shop or open up a shop and take more clients. As of today, my nail business have grown it will continue to grow as long as I can continue to put in The work and that also goes for dance as well although my business and career is going well deep down inside I know that God has something better for me so I’m always striving to push for the best And always willing to unlearn to relearn to grow.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road being a dancer you have your ups and downs sometimes you get booked sometimes you don’t sometimes you feel like someone is better than you and sometimes you don’t you know but all that comes with being motivated you have to be willing to be discouraged and use discourage as the motivation you can’t give up on yourself obstacles that get in your way is nothing but just motivation to push you to be great the same as with me being a nail technician sometimes the business is doing great sometimes I get a lot of clients sometimes I don’t get clients but I don’t give up I keep going keep advertising the next thing you know the Bookings and the clientele roll in you just have to have faith and believe in yourself.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As being a dancer one of the best things is being able to express yourself and your feelings to move me without happening to say a word as stated I’m trained in modern jazz hip-hop to trade in ballet but me and Ballet just didn’t get along lol I’ve also had some training in heel choreography as well it’s funny you ask what am I known for some people know me as a dancer some people know me as the nail tech. I can honestly say I’m most proud of how far I came along with becoming a dancer and also becoming a nail tech because there was  times where I really felt like giving up but I just continue to push myself. One thing that sets me apart from others is my personality.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
For anyone that’s just starting a career or working on a career or business or even if you don’t know what you wanna do the best thing I can tell you is to find your purpose and understand what you want to do because sometimes what we want is just not for us so finds what’s for you and for those who are working on the business don’t give up if you feel like your business isn’t where you wanted to be, take a step back and see what you do doing wrong help to your business grow One thing I wish I knew when I first started out is to take my time and to have patience . Patience  is key to everything we can’t rush into anything expecting it to be great.
