Conversations with Jamie Koplin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Koplin.

Hi Jamie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Art has been a refuge for me since I was a little girl. Over time I developed the patience and skills to make it to where I am now.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth journey. I struggled with certain mediums at first and became really impatient with myself and my results. It took a lot of discovering how to “let go” to finally “get” a lot of them.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am known for my Watercolors and alcohol inks. I’m proud that I was able to work with these mediums because they really do require patience and mindfulness to work with. I also work with acrylics sometimes and hope to do more in the future.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I’m always learning and also love to explore new things and techniques. I do see myself making more art more of the time in the next few years, and hopefully will see more art shows in the LA Area now that the pandemic is calming down a little.
