Conversations with Christian Escobar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Escobar.

Hi Christian, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started in the makeup industry 13 years ago. I never thought that makeup was a profession that one could make into a career.

During that time social media wasn’t as big as it is now and it wasn’t something people talked about as a career. When I started I had the opportunity to get an internship at a TV station and I immediately knew that this is what I wanted to do and never looked back.

I also freelanced for makeup companies that gave me the experience to fine-tune my skills in makeup and work with people from all walks of life. I’ve had the opportunity to work with many celebrities and TV shows and also travel the world doing what I love.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It wasn’t always easy, especially in the freelance realm the inconsistency of not always having clients, would make me second guess if it was the right road I took. In the end, I am glad I stuck it out because with no risk there is no reward.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a makeup and hairstylist. I do everything from everyday makeup & hair to red carpet events. Bridal, Sweet Sixteens, Birthday, Halloween, Photoshoots, TV, & Red Carpet.

I love doing all of it. What made my work more known was for Halloween I was hired to do Kate Hudson’s makeup, do a Day of the dead skull, and was tagged on social media and it ended up in magazines.

It was so awesome to see. I believe what set me apart from others is my passion for what I do.

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking?
I said it before, with no risk there is no reward. I left my 9-5 job to follow a dream, and 13 years later here I am.
