Conversations with Wendy Parr

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Parr.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started working when I was eight as a professional artist – voice overs, commercials, singing, TV, etc. I always knew I am here to use my voice, as I pursued my artist path, I began songwriting and coaching. I also lost my joy. Unraveling what led me from soul filled singing to emotionally disconnected became the root of my philosophy and drive to help other artists stay connected to their vision, joy and integrity. I have a serious passion to help artists (not just musical) thrive. I’ve encountered so many gifted and talented people who are clear in their abilities but need an understanding guide to help actualize them. Whether as a new artist looking to create their lane or a seasoned artist looking to reignite their fire; I’ve learned that my life’s purpose is to help other creative artists live fully within theirs! I so appreciate that I have been thriving in the music and entertainment industry for over 30 years now. Living and working within my passion has brought me so much joy and I’m grateful for the many roles I have been able to glean from; sometimes as a multi award-winning songwriter, world-renowned vocal coach, vocal producer, speaker, educator, or simply speaking on IG live with all of you!

My time in music has given me the skills and influence to be affectionately termed ‘the Artists’ Secret Weapon’. I’ve been honored to teach, coach, and guide some absolutely amazing artists at all levels, including some of your favorites, such as Sara Barellies, Regina Spektor, Melanie Martinez, Lynn Gunn of PVRIS, Marc E. Bassy, and some of your soon to be favorites Royal and Serpent, Sam Fischer, Ella Vos, and Jordan Suaste. It brings me so much joy to awaken artists and creatives alike into their ultimate unique creative expression, founded in self-awareness and over-flowing with compassion! I’ve spent years perfecting an ongoing learning experience that provides a space where creators can connect freely, communicate honestly, transform openly, and network without pretense with their peers in a welcoming environment. Whether that’s in my community The Artist’s Circle – a 12 step program for Artists and Creatives of every discipline, in my signature program The Ride, or coaching with me 1 on 1, I will help you get clear, gain confidence, and expand your potential so that you thrive as an artist while actualizing your dreams!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Mmm, being a teenage female in the music industry was definitely a challenge. Later as a coach in business meetings or as one of seven founders of a company, I was often the only female in the room or one of few – this was both a challenge but as many challenges became some of my gifts – I learned to speak up and lean into my integrity, qualities that enable me to create a fulfilling life and help artists do the same – let their north star be their inner voice.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

Proud of growing into a person I like, building a life that is fulfilling, touring with artists, writing with and for artists, creating artist development courses to help others explore and define their unique artist vision. Getting engaged and creating a family with my beloved, Caroleen surrounded by cherished friends. I’m grateful.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Summers at camp – being in nature, riding horses – the freedom of childhood, swimming in the lake, canoeing, and getting care packages of popcorn balls and candy which I shared. Took a while to realize being a city person all my life, how important nature is to me and how horses would change my life. Magical Creatures!
